[No] tickets for Eurostar direct to Amsterdam [now on sale!]

Logged on excitedly this morning to book a ticket on one of the inaugural Eurostar services direct to Amsterdam, only to find them missing

There is supposed to be one at 08:31 and another at 17:31 every day from April 4th, with ticket sales starting today. But so far, not a sign of them !

Hopefully it is just a temporary glitch...

The Eurostar social media team posted the below on Twitter:

Goedemorgen! The team's all in & here for you. From mid-afternoon today, tickets for our new Amsterdam direct service go on sale for the first time - so you can now bring yourself that little bit closer to the byways, towpaths and cycles lanes of the Netherlands with Eurostar.
Specifically expect tickets to be available around 4PM GMT.

Eurostar now say tickets available from Thursday morning (no specified time) 22nd Feb.

A couple of hours ago it was from 4PM today.

Not good for Eurostar publicity wise as they ran a media train today.

The bad news is that you can't get a direct train from Amsterdam to London as the passport requirements haven't been sorted out yet.

Which begs the question - what happens to all the trains that arrive in Amsterdam from London

AIUI, they'll run as separate Amsterdam-Brussels and Brussels-London trains, but with a stop in Brussels too tight to make unless you're in Business Premier or have Carte Blanche.

Shame as there is a lot of publicity and interest at the moment. I'd be keen to see Standard Premier pricing for the London to Amsterdam sector, might make for a fun daytrip with a flight back to LCY.

Well, here we are at 09:17 and still no tickets.

The Eurostar Live chat agent said: " Today, we hope, but we do not have an exact hour for the moment. I am sorry."

What a shambles !

Some good fares available. I'll be very tempted in future to train rather than fly.

If only the trains were timetabled better. One in the middle of the day timed to arrive late afternoon / early evening would have been ideal. But this is a start!

At last !!

With a house in Utrecht which we visit frequently, we have now booked several of the £35 direct fares to get us out there on a Thursday night, then Avios/BA or Easyjet flights to come back last thing Sunday / crack of dawn Monday.

Looking forward to the experience

Sounds great. Only 3h to Rotterdam, with connections to half the country - I can't wait. AIUI, there's a third service in the works, pending the return immigration & security protocols being agreed upon.

Now to figure out if I can attach my child seat to an OV-fiets
