Heathrow T3 Security incident

Sitting on the 09:50 to Prague. Flights from T3 being held due to a security incident we're told. Flight has been rechecked by crew, pilots and now armed police. No news of when we'll go.

Anyone out out there with news of what's happening ?

I transited T3-T5 at around 9AM and they even stopped the terminal transit buses for a while.

From the newspapers:

"A police spokesman confirmed they were called to reports of a suspicious package this morning at 7.59am. The spokesman added: “Officers remain at the scene.”

Seems security was completely closed for a period too.

Pretty sure Gate 5 was where an Emirates 380 was parked at.

Frustrating, but you'll get there soon enough. Safety paramount!

Just been told by a friend that 1500 people are queued up waiting to get into T3. Security has been suspended whilst the building is checked

Security was reopened a little over an hour ago. Are you being told it has closed again?

If the left "suspicious package" were airside, the authorities' reaction to the item just goes to show how much faith the "security forces" have in the airport security keeping out contraband weapons/explosives/incendiaries.

I passed through a reasonably quiet fast track at 8:30 and did a bit of shopping before heading to the lounge for breakfast. If it was a suspicious package airside the airports' reactions were a bit slow.

Captain advised that he was told that someone had picked up a rucksack that wasn't theirs and headed down to the gate 5 area but that the security cameras had lost the individual hence all flights in that pier were being screened
