Adding pages to UK passport
Is there any way to add pages to an existing UK passport? My passport has 2 double pages left empty, I'm getting worried if I have to go to Africa, might need a lot of space...
And if I must get a new passport, will i have to give in my old one for them to keep, or could I keep my old passport with all the stamps in? |
Ben,
The answer is no, and yes to keeping the old one. Next time get a 48 page one! |

you will get it back and they will cut one of the corners off making it unusable and the chip will also be made unusable
|
Thanks alot.
But I assume a 48 page one costs more? |
https://www.gov.uk/passport-fees
The additional 16 pages will cost 13£ more. Up to you to decide whether it's worth the money. |

If you have any visas in it then you can still take it with you and the arriving country will usually honour any existing visas on you old one as long as they are still valid when you arrive. |

Usually it is because you'll regularly have need to travel while one passport is stuck at an embassy for visa processing. |
I recently went for my first time to Dubai. I have an expired Israeli Student Visa in my passport, which is 2 full page stickers stuck in passport.
I read beforehand on the UK Gov website that entry is OK without problem, - https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-ad...y-requirements (only Israeli passport not allowed). My friend with a clean UK passport went through no prob, but i was stopped, and taken to the office on the side, and made wait outside for 1 hour, until someone came with my passport, asked me loads of questions, like where coming from, where going to, what my english telephone no, what my israeli telephone no, which religion i am, where i am staying in Dubai, where i studied in Israel, and a bunch of other questions which he wrote down in arabic. Then he went for about 10 mins, came back and let me go through. I wasn't worried at all, i knew eventually they would let me through, just was angry that the website said i should not face any difficulty, and I did. I have heard of people asking for a second passport because of these situations, but would prob not be free. |
A second passport is chargeable in just the same way as your first.

Ben,
Were you dressed in London Business suit, casual chinos and loafers, or were you were attired as when we last met? (you remember, when we used to have a lounge meet up thread :D). I suspect that they may have thought you were possibly more Israeli than British and taken a stance, rather than just looked at the passport. I think it is often referred to as "profiling". A bit like the security people also do at Tel Aviv airport - where on my last visit I got a long and leisurely examination and questioning about why I was in transit through to Amman. |

And I was dressed with a T-shirt, and a baseball cap, but I suppose they couldn't hide that much...especially with somewhat of a beard... Yes, it felt like TLV, and I agree about the profiling. |
