Empty thermos flasks

Am I allowed to bring one through security in my hand luggage?

What size? I only ask because I have brought small ones with no problems but mine were less than 750ml. No idea if a larger size makes a difference.

Planning on filling up after a duty free shop ;)

You are allowed to.

I have.

Every now and again, a security goon will insist that you can't, and there will be nothing you can do or say to persuade him, or superior, otherwise!

I'll be coming through BKK & using the CX lounge where they do a stunning noodle soup.
I'm thinking of asking them to fill my flask up for my flight.
If they charged me for this soup then I would gladly pay

Useful info, thanks. I'm flying out of BKK on BA later in the year and it's good to know which lounge does good food.

On topic, yes you're allowed to bring containers. I've emptied bottles of water and refilled them once through security in the past. Never had an issue.

The BA lounge is due to reopen in October after a refurb but I'll tempted to stay with CX.
They've been working on the BA lounge most of 2015 so they must be doing a complete gut & refit
