where is the place to be at midnight. Some have told me Trafalgar square and some embankment

the square is not just overwhelmed with people, all the roads are blockaded, even for pedestrian traffic.

Embankments are a mess as well, completely jammed with people both sides of the river, up-and-downstream of The London Eye, you can't get through. The streets immediately behind are fine, but of course you don't see anything there.
