Just pay the excess baggage charges! It will be a few hundred dollars, but you will have your goods with you. Factoring not working/earning money for six months, as well as travelling around, it's a small fractional increase in costs. However, do remember that if you don't have IB/AA/BA 'elite' status, the excess baggage can only be 23kg/piece, otherwise they slap on a heavy bag charge. tb |

That's a rather good point, with the exception of the last sentence to the extent it applies to BA, as BA waives heavy bag fees for Club World customers.

that is more than shipping items, extra baggage and flight combined.
i may be scaling trip back to just a month because of the medicines issue. I know I can carry that much on. Either way I will have to expend thousands for meds so a much shortened trip might be the way to go... Now trying to figure out when to go...... |

From the US to UK (London)
I have some books I would like to ship ahead as they are big, heavy and bulky schoolbooks and medical references. .... Is there a book rate like there is here in the US making it better to ship media seperately? If you want to buy them in the UK, abebooks.co.uk/ .com is a possible source (indeed sometimes shipping from US book dealers can be cheaper than sourcing the same book in the UK). |
