White Plains CTO to close 4/30

The for rent sign is up.
TWA is closing their White Plains CTO on 4/30/01. I guess everyone will have to walk across the street to A/A.

They never flew out of HPN anyway.

The City of White Plains swells to 250,000 people during the work day. And, the TWA CTO is across the street from AA,UA,Delta, and US. White Plains is the county seat of Westchester County. Home of Uncle Carl. TWA offices were once located in Mt. Kisco, a mere 20 minute ride north.

plus, i swear to you that few White Plains types flew out of HPN. it's always pure white-on-blue plates in the lot, meaning our friends to the south in some state most people can't spell (c-o-double n-e-c-t-i-c-u-t) seem to like HPN best.

personally, i think HPN needs a discount carrier. nevertheless, White Plains itself is a business hub, and much big money lives inside the city once again with the phenomenal resurgence of the economy. it was always nice, but these days, even through the vumpy ride of the last couple of months, it has that glimmer that you really only see in a city that is alive and vibrant.

well, except the train station. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

People in this area of the country never really fly TWA anyways. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

i hear we all have private jets. move into 203-land...free private jet! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif1

people always did look at me like i'd sprouted an arm out of my head when i said i was flying TW to Missouri. "I didn't think they served domestic destinations!" "Do they have anything besides DC-9s and 727s?" It was pretty funny. They'd clearly never flown TW, and mayhaps this is one of the misconceptions that turned out costly for the airline.

i didn't even know they had a ticket office in white plains until this post came through. but as we move into the brave new world of TWAA, things are gonna change. *swallows hard*
