Cancelled flight
Family members scheduled on free ticket today jan 21st from ewr tjru stl to ogg: Called to reconfirm yesterday advised ewr to stl canceled. They were able to get on the late afternoon flight to stl but told they would have to pay for rooms. seems to me that TWA by not calling and canceling is liable. Spend large block of AMEX miles: they are in stl now next step please ......

I had a similar situation some years ago. TWA decided to hold a flight I was on in order to pick up passengers arriving on a delayed connecting flight, and thus caused me to miss my connection. Would they put me up? Heck no! Ultimately gave me one of those throw-away $25 certificates. (I should have gone to DOT.) I had been Gold with them for about 5 years running, and had over 250,000 miles on TWA. Quit flying them for 8 years. Fly them now only as a last choice. |
I have had TWA and others put me up overnight when it is thier fault. However, if I choose to take a flight which I know will end up resulting me in staying overnight, I pay. Also with a free ticket, there are more risks (with any airline) as they will not usually move you to another airline. That is one of the disadvantages in flying with an airline that only has 1 or 2 flights to your destination when you have a free ticket.
Not sure of circumstances, but if they took flight to STL knowing they would likely miss connection - I take it is the passenger decision and passenger pays. Also, I bet 90% of passengeres of cancelled flights never get calls, regardless of airline. I know I raely get calls, so not unusal. Ask United or Delta passengers. |
