TK125 delay
 

Hello All,
First time Turkish Airlines flyer here !
I am due to fly on TK125 from TPE to IST in J soon and noticed that the flight departure is constantly delayed by 2 hours or so. Just wanted to know if there is any particular reason to that? (I can see they fly over Pakistan airspace so this should not be the problem) ?
Also, I have a 2 hours connexion in IST to another Turkish flight. What would be the procedure if I miss my connecting flight ? They do not have another flight to the final destination that day but their competitor (outside star alliance) does. Would they rebook us with them or do we need to wait the next day to fly Turkish ?

No idea why that flight has recently encountered regular delays. Maybe weather? If you miss the connecting flight they will put you on the next TK flight, not another airline. In case needed they will accommodate you in a hotel. What is your ultimate destination?

I've had luck being rebooked until a non partner airline when the next TK flight was 36 hours, so I wouldn't rule it out completely

TK usually makes up time en route - and other flights out of IST are also routinely late. Might work out

If the OP misconnects at IST, OP should inquire at the TK transfer desks if rebooking to non-TK flight is possible, but if there is flight the following day (morning) I would expect TK to refuse this and rebook to TK flight the following day. But it is worth a shot.

As for accommodation etc, OP will be referred to go to the TK hotel desk in the arrivals hall (i.e. after entering Turkey) to be assigned a TK transfer hotel, incl. shuttle to/from hotel. TK will not provide a room airside (at the expensive Yotel).

the final destination is Beirut (TK826).
TK is not flying until next morning to Beirut but reading the above, rebooking on MEA that same night is unlikely.
if the transfer becomes tight but still possible with the delay, would TK send staff in air bridge to help for smooth transfer or this is not common procedure here?

I would not count on that

The outbound TK124 IST TPE is very delay prone as is the TK050 IST NRT. The 4pm-5pm departure time is a window during which TK does not seem to have a lot of operational spare and as a result you will see regular delays in this bank as they are using inbound aircraft from transatlantic arrivals to operate these Asia flights.

Since the published turn around at TPE is a rather unrealistic 90 minutes, there is no way of making up time during the turn around.

This was my experience flying last summer ARN-IST-TPE. About a 7 hour delay and there's no way the return flight to IST would make that up. It's an entirely unsatisfactory situation that has been ongoing for some time.

Well, the connecting flight to Beirut got cancelled with the current situation so transit time was not an issue anymore... Thank you for all the detailed replies anyway, very much appreciated.

Ended up rebooking completely for later date as BEY was a bit of a mess with many people trying to leave on the few flights remaining. Many thanks for all the advices again.
