Fare Class changing during booking process
 
I have fights from DUB - SYD and returning SYD - DUB. It was E class the whole way so I'd earn 100% mileage.

I changed the flights today to return SYD - AGP and when confirming the flights, it showed it would be booked into H class which also earns 100%.

I paid, but it booked into L class which only earns 50%. I would never have changed the flight as I need the 100% miles to upgrade to Elite Plus.

How do I either revert the change, or get it rebooked into one of M, H, S, E, Q, A, O? Or am I out of luck?

unfortunately rebooking with TK via self service always books into the lowest available booking class. it also happens on simple rebookings upon schedule change once you accept the date/time change.
you need to call the hotline or open a feedback. but the outcome might be "you approved the cange yourself - we can't do anything"

I called the hotline and they didn't know what a fare class was and said they can only change times or routings.

I'll open up a feedback case and see.

did you call the elite/elite+ hotline in Türkyie? there seem to be more knowledgable agents working for TK and not the oitsourced call center.
The number is a bit hidden on the website.

I rang the Irish number and entered my TK number. There was an automated message about "welcome to the elite line" or something, would that be the same one? I'll give them another call and see if I get a better agent

Got a response saying:


We have see that you have made a change on your arrival destination and would like to inform you that your ticket was changed to the optimal fare class in accordance with in favor of the passenger. It has been determined that only tax differences and transaction fee were collected for this change.
Extremely infuriating. I rang up again and asked how much to change to one of M, H, S, E, Q, A, O but got cut off mid way through.

Could a TK sales office help or am I out of luck?

I thought I had made progress with the sales office but they then stopped replying.

I will try the helpline another few times but other than that would anyone have any suggestions?

Now if I cancel the flight I only get €110 back not the €1.2k before the change. I might just do a chargeback and rebook

Or just move on? Seems to be excessive actions just to get ticketed into a different booking class.

What you do is that you fly the ticket as it is now. Presumably miles will be awarded based on class L. Afterwards you file a feedback on the TK website asking for a miles adjustment based on the original booking class (and you submit the original eticket receipt). There is no guarantee it willl work but the odds are much better than you trying to get rebooked into class E or H now.

Well I bought a changeable fare because I knew I'd likely need to change it. Now when I changed it once I can no longer change it again.

I'll give TK one more chance or chargeback and rebook

I'm not convinced that a chargeback will be approved or is the right remedy in this situation. TK may blacklist you for doing a chargeback for a non-refundable ticket.

Of course it would be approved. I have screenshots showing the fare class and change / cancellation fees for the new flights during the rebooking process then it rebooked into a far more restrictive fare bucket.

I didn't get what I paid for. It's that simple.

Would anyone know of any way to resolve this? I have screenshots of the whole rebooking process to show the Fare Bucket and the Change Rules of the new flight I selected and paid for.

I'd rather not do the chargeback since I would like to continue using TK as my main airline going forward. But they've confirmed it would be approved.

try your local TK sales office. maybe there is anyone who takes customer issues seriously.

It's so infuriating, it's the most blatant thing going and should have been fixed straight away. An airline can't just charge me more because I selected a Flexible flight then when they take the money give me a restricted ticket.

It's annoying that it seems like there's no one in TK that actually helps. At least with a lot of airlines, twitter/social media/the right team will get you sorted even if the general CS is poor
