Expedia Unable to make changes to Married Segment
 

Hi All,

I've booked SFO-IST-RAK round trip in K class (business) using Expedia. I want to change to the earlier flight (same day) from SFO-IST with no other changes on other segments, so I called Expedia. They were able to reprice fare difference + change fee and when they tried to submit the change, they got an error which the agent said was "duplicate segment for IST-RAK". He mentioned that SFO-IST-RAK was a married segment hence they couldn't make changes to this.

I know TK wont touch this booking as it was booked with Expedia, so no use calling them (or should I?) Can I get some advice on how I can change my SFO-IST segment?

Wait for a schedule change of more than 15min and rebook for free (invol rebooking) in the TK app or website?

im traveling next weekend. Not sure if a schedule change will be made so close to departure

Call Expedia again, they can definitely make that change.

Can I ask you why do you wish to travel on the earlier SFO-IST flight if there is no change to the IST-RAK segment? - i.e. you are only increasing the IST transit time. Doesn't seem worth the hassle and the money to me.

Maybe leave it and travel as currently booked?

I wanted to get more transit time in Istanbul so I can see some sights as I already have a hotel booked for the night

You are aware that TK will provide free transfer hotel in IST? - provided that certain conditions are met; try to look in the dedicated thread about TK transit hotels/program. If you rebook to the earlier SFO-IST flight you will no longer make you eligible for a TK transfer hotel.

I'm surprised people here still book with expedia. I recently booked with them myself after seeing them mentioned here many times, but not remembering in what context. This was an unimportant booking and I planned to take advantage of the supposed 24 hour free cancellation expedia prominently displays. Less than an hour later, I tried to cancel the booking, and it was like pulling teeth.
Apparently somewhere in their mumble-bumble they have hidden that the 24 hour free cancelation does not apply to "all" airlines. After an hour on the phone with them, including getting transferred to the airline in question by expedia, I just gave up. Not worth the aggravation for me, even when my job allows me to continue working while on hold.


Later on I out of curiosity checked trustpilot and see expedia has a rating of 1.2/5. I've never seen such a low rating for any company I've bothered to look up on trustpilot before, and I now understand there is a good reason for it.
