TK111 10/9 Canceled

We are scheduled to fly with 2 young children TLV-IST-JFK on 10/8. The second leg, TK111 has been canceled for "operational reasons".

Unfortunately, the alternate flights offered by TK, really don't work with our schedule. Reaching someone with authority has been nearly impossible and we are now in a bind.

Would Turkish have to follow the Israeli Travel delay laws, as the flight originates in TLV?

Is there anyone to speak to with authority to rebook us on another carrier? We have already filed feedback forms twice and have not heard back from anyone. Calling their call center seems to be a waste of time.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

TK is def. not going to rebook you OAL - and there is no obligation to do so, when there is an alternative same day TK flight to your destination.

You can ask for a full refund though, and book new tickets with other carrier as you want.

Not always can you ask for a full refund. Where has OP originated? TLV or JFK? If this is the inbound direction, OP will not get a full refund but the difference between RT and O/W, which is usually between 25% to 33%. In addition, OP will have to buy a O/W ticket which is more expensive. And dont forget thats its the holiday time now in Israel so ticket prices are skyrocketing. To sum it up, canceling the tickets is most probably not a viable option.

Is there any information in the initial post that this is return ticket?
TK will accept to cancel the entire ticket; I also believe TK will accept to only cancel the outbound and keep the return segments, JFK-IST-TLV but the refund will be far more complicated. I doubt TK will reprice to a o/w ticket in this situation, but no first hand experience (I have always only asked for a cancellation of all segments).

TLV is the origin as per initial post.

If the OP do not wish to cancel either the outbound flights or the entire ticket, there seem no other choice than to accept the proposed same day rebooking despite the preference of the OP for other flights with other carriers; TK is not going to rebook OAL in this situation; dream on!

EDIT: AFAIK TK operates at least 3 other flights to JFK on that day (admittedly arriving later in the day than TK 111 at 4AM) so it is a bit surprising if none of the same day alternatives do not fit.

We dont know that for sure. OP did not specifically said so. OPs profile indicates that they are based in NYC and that too doesnt prove anything.

I never said so. Why are you keeping repeating it?

There are about 6 other alternative for OP to choose from (prior or after the cancelled flight) but I assume that because they have young children, they prefer a red-eye flight and hence the problem with all the other 6 available options.

In any case, lets hear what OP has to say.

TK doesn't reprice round-trips as one-way if something happens after the outbound involuntarily. They do refund the return portion of the originally paid ticket component.

Plus EWR TK29 shows C4 and Y9 , it departs 18:35 on 10/8 and arrives 22:40 in EWR, 5 hours earlier than the original flight .
