Clarification on Stopover and Open-Jaw Rules

Hello,

I am reading alot of conflicting information on TK stopover / OJ rules.

I am trying to book OW ORD-IST-MAD with a 4 day stopover in IST but calling TK, it is pricing out as 60k (45k + 15k). The representative told me it was because it was a multi-city booking and each leg is charged separate. I thought all TK award flights are allowed stopovers, or is that only true for RT award bookings?
If i were to book a RT award ticket, would i only be allowed 1 stopover OR 1 open jaw and not BOTH?

Thanks for the help.

My understanding is that only 1 stopover is allowed on a return ticket. Open jaw at either origin or destination (not both).

I could book an open jaw award with 1 stopover in IST, so combining is possible.

For OW award, no stopover is allowed.

AFAIK it has never been allowed. Otherwise there would be a lot of pax traveling e.g. US to Mexico with a long stop over in IST, of the classic, BKK to SIN with a stopover in IST for 30,000 miles. Too good to be true...

How are the rules for:
  • stopovers elsewhere than IST
  • open jaws
on revenue o/w and r/t tickets?

Depends on the revenue fare itself. TK doesn't have a generic stopover policy and combinability policy for open-jaws and the specific fare component determines the rules.

Thanks, ISTFlyer
So what would I need to be looking for and where, to identify whether specific fares allow stopovers or open jaws?

You would likely need an external tool such as Expertflyer if you would like to go ahead and investigate every fare in detail; albeit most TK fares do allow a stopover in Istanbul at least once per round-trip and most TK fares could be formed as open-jaws if both directions involve travel within the same region pairs.

Thanks again, ISTFlyer
I guess revenue tickets with stopovers and/or open jaws would likely not be bookable online, right?

They could be booked online on the TK website or app.
