Is Turkish Airlines really strict on the new baggage policy?

1.
I plan to fly from USA to IST on THY flight. I just noticed the new policy. are they truly strict on the new baggage policy (see below)?

I haven't taken any Thy flight since Jan. I usually bring a Carry-On Rolling luggage (around 12 kg) and my school bag (10 kg) with me. Are they gonna force me to check in now? Does anyone have any flight experience out of the U.S. airport on Thy flight?

2. I'm a Platinum member with United (*A G status)

Does that mean I can have check-in baggages: 2 piece(s): maximum 23 kg per piece + one more with 20 kg ? or 3 pieces of 23 kg ?

What about other *A G carrier's policy? I thought it was always 3 pieces of 23 kg ?
On United carrier, i know i can have 3 pieces of 70 lbs (32 kg)

I would assume so. The restriction on carry-on is for safety reasons. Overweighed baggage can damage the overhead bin.

Your problem is you compare this with UA. What UA allows you is based on the UA program, which has nothing to do with *A or *G.

*A policy says an extra baggage. Nothing more and nothing less. So in that situation, to avoid baggage fee, I would do 20 kg instead.

1- You are forced to check-in your carry-on at check-in to your final destination on all flights to/from Turkey regardless of the airline. You could still bring one personal item that could fit under the seat. If you're sitting in a bulkhead or emergency exit-row seat, the crew would allow you to put your personal item in the overhead lockers. However, they usually don't weigh the personal items.

2- You have a 3 x 23 kg checked baggage allowance + 1 x 8 kg checked baggage allowance ( for your carry-on ). Normally, your personal item that needs to fit under your seat could not exceed 4kgs but as I mentioned above, they usually don't weigh it.

The link that you've provided is the general cabin baggage rules before pre-COVID and it would not apply.
