THE WIKI IS NOT UP TO DATE - IT WOULD BE UPDATED IN DUE COURSE
Please read the WIKI before asking your question as it has the most essential information about the Miles&Smiles extensions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
As 31 March 2020;
- Turkish Airlines has extended every member's status for another 6 months and members' requalification periods ( on 31 March 2020 ) are extended to 18 months.
- The expiry date of current Elite Plus vouchers is extended for 6 months. The next Elite Plus vouchers that are scheduled to be deposited to your account would be deposited 6 months later than the original date.
Example Scenarios:
Original Card Expiry: 30 September 2020
New Card Expiry: 31 March 2021 ( 2nd Re-Qualification period extended 6 months )
Now in: 2nd Re-Qualification Period
If Elite Plus member;
Revised expiry date of active ELPL vouchers: 31 March 2021
New vouchers would be deposited on: 1 April 2021 ( if requalified )
Original Card Expiry: 31 January 2022
New Card Expiry: 31 July 2022 ( 1st Re-Qualification period extended 6 months )
Now in: 1st Re-Qualification Period
If Elite Plus member;
Revised expiry date of active ELPL vouchers: 31 July 2021
New vouchers would be deposited on: 1 August 2021
- The 12 month period for status qualification/upgrade still remains the same. However, TK doubled the number ( limit ) of purchasable status miles for those who were close to a status upgrade.

I guessed I knew they'd screw this up...
Last week
Year end: July
In my first year of the two-year cycle, so good to July 2021
63K+ status miles in the account
so a further 2 years in the bag, to July 2023
Today
Year end: February (undertood)
Good to February 2022 (understood)
BUT
3,320 status miles in my account
need 54,680 to requalify to February 2024

I am thankful to TK that they extended the status for everyone by 6 months. This is a really nice gesture.
However, I think they screwed up the status miles.
I have a family account. My membership year was due to expire in 05/20 and was extended to 11/20. Status miles (around 200k, requalified ELPL) all correct.
For the second person on the account, the membership year was due to expire 04/21 and was extended to 10/21 and was already re-qualified so good until 04/23 (before the extension) - but now half of the status miles are missing and account has to re-qualify for ELPL again. Hopefully this will be resolved quickly.

So by extending the membership date by 6 months from 04/21 to 10/21, they basically moved the membership years too.
So while the first membership year was originally 04/19 until 04/20 (and where sufficient miles were accrued to requalify for ELPL), the first membership year is now 10/19-10/20. Now half of the miles are missing (because the system doesn't take the period 04/19 until 09/19 into account anymore). I checked this by calculating all flights on the statement and it fits down to the last mile...
Error identified, so hopefully they will fix it soon

Or could they be possibly serious in just neglecting an entire 6-month period?!

Don't think so... My year used to run from June until May. Many of my status miles came in June and August 2019. Still showing, despite my year end moving to November...

... extended except my status miles are now 0. I have already met the mileage requirement for this membership cycle, does it mean I'll have to earn another 40K miles?
This is exactly my thinking, met 40K the first 6 months (Oct - Mar) and now they're zeroed out?
OK, I just understood what happened here...

Thanks - I think you are right. This behavior can also only be observed with one of the two people in the family account. So not a general issue.

Good to know that I am not the only one seeing reduced status miles. Although it is not zeroed out, it is still significantly less than what it was literally a day ago, and I am not sure what happened / or how did they come to the reduced figure?

Using the 2008 sudden recession as a guide
Back in Fall 2008, United offered me (individually) a 1K status with only 75K miles. At the time (as I recall), I had about 55K miles and was aiming for 75K anyway. So it was a nice bonus to have it end up as 1K. I had 1K for the next year also, but I don't know if there was also an incentive involved.

My expiration date has also been pushed back six months. Previous expiration date May 2022, new one November 2022, Status mile counter also back to zero already.

Im glad that TK has been to one extent proactive towards this unprecedented situation. Let's hope that all the account glitches that will most certainly arise from this, be fixed to everyones benefit.

I'm on the same boat as well. My Elite + status was going to expire in Nov 2021, and now it's extended through April 2020. However, I was already requalified for the two year extension last December, so my status was supposed to be extended till November 2023. Hopefully they fix it.

My miles are still showing, extended 6 months to Feb 2021. Very happy they did this, was a little concerned on losing status this year.
I wonder if people that have longer than 1 year get zeroed and less than 1 year left keep? or some similar date range
