Possible to upgrade a paid flight on TK metal w/UA Miles?
 
I want buy an economy TATL flight on TK metal and use miles to upgrade to Business. I have zero TK miles but 500k UA miles. Any way to use them to make this happen?

as far as I know that’s only possible if your ticket is full-fare Y fare-class. However, someone needs to confirm this as my knowledge is not reliable on this.

Edit: It seems like you need to buy a Y or B fare-class ticket to be able to upgrade your TK-operated flight with UA miles. Y or B fare-class tickets are likely to be more expensive than a discount business class ticket.

This is a question for the United forum. United rules will determine which TK fare class can be upgraded.

*A does have better processes for handling upgrades than the other alliances, but certain situations may require very expensive Y fares only.
