In Turkey, as in most of the world, clearing immigration is not required for an international to international connection. The passenger can remain airside, and does not need to enter Turkey.

HOWEVER, the transfer passenger may have to go through transfer security inspection.
Arrivals from EU, USA or Canada continuing to other international destinations are not generally subject to transfer security.
All other international-international transfer passengers should clear transfer security.

Domestic to domestic transfer passengers are not subject to transfer security.
International to domestic transfer passengers are subject to security screening regardless of their arrival point.
Domestic to international transfer passengers are subject to security screening.

For international to international transfers, passengers who have less than 75 minutes for their next flight could benefit from the short connection points which are located at the end of concourses. This is only a fast-track for short connections which avoids passing from the duty free area. ( Similar to London Heathrow Terminal 5B and 5C transfer security ).

There is a fast track lane for international to international transfer passengers traveling on Business Class or holding M&S Elite or Elite Plus, or *G status. This service is only available at the main transfer security checkpoint area.

No, Şanlıurfa has customs facilities so you would be claiming your baggage at the international terminal at Şanlıurfa. After disembarkation at GNY, an employee would escort you to the customs hall and you would declare everything ( if necessary ) over there.

Short connection at IST

Thank you guys for the amazing work you doing within this group. Personally, I am sure that the situation will get back to (almost) normality by the very end of August. I have TK flights booked in September, October & November and have no intention to cancel these plans at all (unless forced to, of course). People will go back travelling once this hysteria most of the media is spreading around will be over. Suggestion: would you guys book/be comfortable with a connection in IST of one hour only? any similar experience you can share?

1 hour isn't enough at IST. Even if you arrive "clean" and don't need to clear security again, you might arrive at a gate that is easily 20-30 minutes away from your departure gate. Arranging for a cart often goes wrong...

P.S. Travel without a vaccine or widespread testing is going to involve a whole lot of 14-day quarantines upon arrival... at best...

You may be right but I like to stay positive man. As I said, media is playing a huge role in this situation (but thats just my humble opinion), thats why I did stop watching most of the news

When going from LIS to MCT, you would not need to reclear security. If your flight from LIS arrives on time at the gate, you should be fine but don't expect a lounge/shop/duty-free visit. Depending on your arrival position and your departure gate, you might need to rush ( walk at a steady pace ).

On the other way, allow yourself 90 minutes minimum as you would need to reclear security. Transfer security in IST is generally empty with no waits but again you might end up walking 25-30 minutes.

Agree with you, for reference, I may have said this before
There would be some countries who would ask for a vaccine, 14-day quarantine, or a negative COVID test before travel and some others would not even care about it.

Thanks - was quite sure I do not need to go through security again at IST. Anyway, I do hold status with the airline & fast track is usually super fast @IST, based on my own experience.

I had a 1-hour connection in February (OSL-IST-BKK). No wait at transfer security at all (very empty) but I had to walk from a F gate to an A gate (which is almost as worse as it gets in terms of distance). A lot of walking but I made it. I even had to some time at TK lounge (but that was because my incoming flight from OSL was early)

1 hour is possible, but it doesn't allow much delay of your incoming flight. I wouldn't hesitate to book when on one ticket.
