Hi Gr8pirate,
The lounge construction seems to be like this now:

Hmmm. so you are saying that between the 8th of December when Mr. Akçayoğlu installed the last piece of the conveyor system and December 13th when the article you cite were published, they completed all 13 check-in islands, and all the 468 receiving points, and tested them all? Even though many of the pictures that have been posted, seemingly from this week show much of these yet to be completed? Laying down 48km of conveyor track, and actually having the system installed and ready to go are totally different things.

Fair point. It's easy enough to forget to be sufficiently critical when faced with pretty pictures!

Any chance photos of the metro link progress could be provided? As mentioned I've heard late 2019, while some have said it will be ready with the airport opening. Wikipedia itself states 2019, which of course is not 100% reliable. While I'm obviously fine with a taxi or havas bus during non-rush hour commutes from the airport, that will quickly become a nightmare during rush hour to get into the city proper.

Appreciate the photos, they're interesting to see the progress.

For quick indication of where it is, here's location: https://goo.gl/maps/TJ9EK4vLmw72

That certainly is a lot further distance-wise from at least the historic center(s) of Istanbul, although obviously it's closer to some locations.

New Istanbul airport to host major aviation and space festival before opening

Hurriyet has an article regarding an Aerospace and Technology Festival to be hosted at the new airport a few weeks before the opening. Includes 11 photos of the construction progress as well.
