If you look at Avianca Lifemiles, you'll see that U, T (and S & W FWIW) for domestic Colombian flights earns less than for international flights.
So my guess would be that the asterisk refers to domestic flights.

I thought looking at the old TK site will make thing clearer but it’s even more confusing now.

Less than six months ago O6 was flying only domestic flights in Brazil. This has changed now and the table you mentioned above has also changed in TK`s Miles&Smiles to reflect a new family of fares and earning rates.
In relation to AV (Avianca Colombia) itself, they have also changed their own family of fares. The most noticeable change for me was the creation of an A fare on business class. This is a bit unclear now as some FFP across alliance are still updating their charts. Oddly enough, even Avianca in Brazil Amigo FFP is designating Avianca Colombia`s A fare as an economy class fare, although with a better earning rate of 125%. Despite this confusion I can confirm an A fare on international flights with AV will make you fly in business class cabin

Please pay attention that Avianca (and Taca, Lacsa etc. - the "northern " South American Avianca and all its affiliates) - AV - is a distinct company, mileage program (Lifemiles) and everything else from "Avianca in Brazil", which is IATA code is O6 and has its own FFP called Amigo.

Apologies for bumping this thread...
I have a few flights coming up under the AV flight code, but operated by Avianca Peru and Avianca El Salvador.
I am planning to credit these flights to Miles&Smiles, hence I am looking at this earnings table on the TK website.
My question: Am I looking at the right earnings table? I remember that in Star Alliance, mileage accrual depends on the operating airline. So is this earnings table valid for all "AV" flights, operated by the various Avianca companies (Avianca Peru, Avianca El Salvador, Avianca Ecuador, etc.)?
Thanks!

AFAIK all of the various Avianca companies EXCEPT FOR BRAZIL fall under the main Avianca earnings table. The key is having an AV XXX flight number...
