Turkish or Lufthansa - Europe to SFO

Hello All,

My husband and I will need to get to SFO in October from Europe. We have about a week of flexibility and are currently booked in C on Lufthansa out of Frankfurt to Seattle, then United economy to SFO.

Now that there are rumors that Turkish will soon be able to allow electronics out of Istanbul to the US, does it make sense to rebook with them?

I have never flown Lufthansa or Turkish, but have been told Turkish is really nice in long haul C. I could cancel my booking through United for a small fee (I think $75) to rebook on Turkish if it's considerably better, plus I wouldn't have to deal with immigration in Seattle, then fly economy to SFO (it's only an hour, but still.)

Thanks for any advice you can give!

It's closer to two hours.

And yes, since the electronics ban is lifted, switch to TK.

I love TK, but in most cases would absolutely pick the direct flight with LH if the price is about the same.

...if you're looking to visit Istanbul and/or experience TK, you should definitely do both!

I am not sure I understand the question but a direct flight is best. I fly TK more than other airlines but when had a choice between LH and TK flying LHR to TSE I choose LH . Depends on cost more than anything else.

If it is LHs new J class,go with LH.

They are also much better in case of irregularities.

I am not aware of LH having a "new" and "old" Business Class in operation these days?

The LH Biz seat is decent. I find it about as comfortable as the TK seat, i.e. not perfect but hardly horrible. Both are fully flat, both have a seat neighbor.

LH has completed Business Class renewal of the entire fleet already quite some time ago.

I personally would prefer the LH flight and connect in Seattle.

go TK

Do you have the time/interest to visit the famous TK lounge in Ataturk? If so, TK is the way to go. Also, TK long hauls have a chef on board..........match that, LH!
