Period of Elite card upgrade?
I was status matched to TK Elite on 20/05/2017. I will fly quite a bit this year so I am planning to fly 80k to get Elite Plus. Originally, I thought 80k miles would be needed before 20/05/2018 (since the qualifying period is one year). However, it appears not to be the case
On 11/06/2017, I flew my first TK flight for 9441 miles. When I play with the "card upgrade" section on TK website, I expect that I will need to fly 70,559 more miles by 20/05/2018. However, the website said that I will need to fly 70,559 miles by 11/06/2018? In other words, it appears that the qualification period starts when I fly my first flight, which does not make sense to me.
Any suggestions/comments/thoughts are greatly appreciated

Re-qualification year starts counting from when you qualify.

I think you might be mixing up qualification year and re-qualification year. To qualify for E or E+ you simply need 40/80K miles within a 12 month period. Nothing to do with membership year, join date or card expiry. Your first flight only matters in so far as the miles count towards your goal of 80K within 12 months of that flight.
Re-qualification year starts counting from when you qualify.

Thank you for your comment. I actually am not confused about qualification/re-qualification. However, given what you said "To qualify for E+, you simply need 80k miles within a 12 month period," I am not sure what would be the starting point of the 12 month period. In my understanding, the starting point should be the date I became Elite (20/05/2017). However, it appears that the actual starting point is the date of my first flight (11/06/2017), which does not really make sense to me.
