Update January 2020:
According to statusmatcher.com TK will only issue the the status match challenge to those holders of the following status:
Oneworld Emerald
Finnair Plus Gold (Oneworld Sapphire)
Skyteam Elite Plus
Emirates Gold/Platinum

Other Gold Card holders including *G are out of luck.

It appears that status matches are only granted once per lifetime, so think carefully before requesting if you might not re-qualify.

TK asks for Elite card scan AND Account activity within last 2 months, so it's best if you have some activities!!
Timeline can range from few hours to few days, be patient!

It looks like TK might also ask you for a scan of your Passport now. So if you are in a hurry better submit it right away in the first place with all the other documents.
Date Requested
Current Airline and Status (note list of matchable status above)
Information submitted (i.e. physical card scan, activity statement, etc)
Any replies received other than confirmation

Multiple reports from December 16th 2015 onwards state that TK now only grants a match to 4 months "elite trial", requiring 1 international TK flight during the 4 months following the match to extend it to one year and 15000 k TK status miles during that year to extend elite status to 2 years:
04/11/2017 - CoweyB. TK has clarified that once a status match is given any miles collected during the first year of the match do not count for renewal - despite the email suggesting that 25,000 miles collected in the first year will secure renewal. TK has said that it is necessary to collect 37,500 in the second year to maintain Elite status for a further two years once the period of the status match ends.

Same thing goes for Europe to North America being cheaper than North America to Europe.

got this answer back from TK today:
So looks good.
(international, yes. TR-CH mostly)
The first 4 months of your Elite membership is considered as the trial period. Within this period, you are required to realize at least one Turkish Airlines international flight in which you gain miles. (AnadoluJet flights are included in the status match program)

did you fly on Turkish Airlines international flights? Flights on Star Alliance partner airlines don't count for the status match challenge.

it will count - don't have an official confirmation, but I know two status matches where the 15.000 miles were not reached in case the first flight does not count. both members got the extension after the four months.

I got a status match in 2022. After flying more than 15k miles within an year I got an email that says it was renewed for two years but my card says it is valid until 2024 (ie 1 year). Which one is correct? I thought after the 15k is only 1 year extension not the typical 2 years.
Also, as I am in my second year after status match the chart seems to indicate I need to fly just 11k miles more (I did 24k in my first year) which would mean c. 35k over two years. However, I have read here and elsewhere that after the first year of status match, you need to fly 25k, or said differently that whatever I flew in my first year of status match is irrelevant after the first year renewal and the only option left is flying 25k in one year.
Wonder if anyone could clarify. Thanks!

Question about rebooking
Hi everyone,
I also did the status match to elite which was granted. I have in total 3 flights which would lead to in total 15.080 status miles. Enough for the 2 year qualification.
Sadly my first flight had a huge delay which would cause that I would arrive 15 hours later from Germany in Korea. Because I had limited holidays and time in Seoul Turkish rebooked my flight to Korea to a direct flight from Germany to Korea with Lufthansa. With this rebooking I arrived on time in Korea and can enjoy my holiday now. Will the status miles from the rebooked flight ( Turkish rebooked it ) be counted to the 15.000 miles or do I have to book a new flight, where I can earn the now missing 6000 miles.
In my understand from this thread only miles which are collected with flights flown with Turkish metal will count. Just asking in hope that this regulation does not count when Turkish rebook you on a different flight.
thanks in advance.
