Waitlist flight
 
What's the procedures of waitlisting a flight, I made an award booking and didn't get the Heathrow flight. I wish to take that one instead from IST to Gatwick/LGW.

Is there a high possibility that the flight will be opened up when there's vacancy?

Just have a line of HL and QQ (Waitlist and On request) for my itinerary. Anyone with such past experiences?
