Has anyone seen upgrades out of Ankara (EBE)? I'm heading there in a few weeks, and if I can snag an upgrade for 1000 USD I'm going to do it. Flight will be EBE- IST - ORD most likely.

Not Ankera but was told a few months ago in Antalya that they can only process upgrades from IST

As promised, here is my outcome, writing this while returning from Japan, currently somwhere over russia, the TK onboard wifi works great BTW!

To NRT,
BUD: Nobody had an idea what I was talking about,
IST: I was told there is nothing I can do in transit, and that I would have to go ask at the landside ticket office, which I was not willing to do because of all the immigration papers papers and checks etc....

return
NRT: Nothing was offered, but that was because business class seemed full,

On the better note, I was able to secure a 3-seat row (last 5 middle rows on the A333) on both ways for me and my friend and that was more than OK,

Thanks for the response.

So I won't be holding my breath for an upgrade, but will still ask at check in.

Alternatively hopefully the flight stays relatively light in load and we get the same situation you had and get a few empty seats

€200 for such a short sector?

Seems like a lot, considering some of the other prices shown for longhaul routes!

I have a flight coming up first week of April from IAH-IST. Sounds like anywhere between 500-1000 is par for an upgrade. Are these upgrade offers targeting to selected passengers? or are they available to anyone at check in?

Sometimes offers are advertised on the top of check-in desks (and are usually open to anyone). At other times, they are targeted at *G economy passengers using the business check-in desk. And less frequently, they will make an offer if you ask - for example, if there is very limited availability in business and the check-in staff cannot be bothered to advertise paid upgrades.

I have an award ticket booked with United miles. Would be happy to pay a reasonable upgrade fee to comfort or business. Does anyone know if I'll be offered the option (or is it only possible with paid tickets)?

On offer at Hong Kong airport on March 24 was EUR 750 for one-way upgrade to Istanbul. Advertised at check in counter. Seems to be a regular thing. No seat available (the day before Good Friday).

On my flight from Sao Paulo to Istanbul the upgrade offer was 750 USD.

I didn`t took it.

If you do a cash upgrade, do you get the miles for the original ticket or for the upgraded one? I know how it works in other FQTV programs but I've never tried with TK and M&S.

Upgrade advertised at the check in counter for MAN-IST.

When I inquired about the price the lady told me she has no idea as normally no one ask and called the supervisor who produced 173GBP as offer. As the check in counter was completely empty (I was the only one) all the other ladies were listening and they recommend me not to take it as the lounge was already closed (It was the redeye flight departing at 23.40) and the flight was quite empty so the chances to get some sleep were big (which turn out the be not true due to two hiper-energetic childs )
