That's what I was trying to tell.
When purchasing a "Paid Discounted Airport Upgrade" the fare bucket stays the same and only the seat number changes. The process of paid discounted airport upgrades is similar to upgrading a UA flight from Economy to EconomyPlus ( not PremiumPlus ) at the check-in counter for a discounted price.

In today's Covid world, who the hell knows? They were flying 5-6 flights PER DAY before Covid and although 3-4 were scheduled as widebodies, you never really knew for sure until that day, especially in the shoulder and low seasons.......Currently they have 2-3 schedules, 2 as widebodies and 1 as a 321, but it is my understanding that it can easily flip around the other way, so who knows in the current environment! OTOH as opposed to 3-4 years ago LHR at least usually got the "good" A321's which meant that the seating was far better than their old convertible seats.

Unfortunately, the paid discounted upgrades are only valid for flights departing from outstations.
However, you are welcome to pay the fare difference at the ticketing counter if you would like to upgrade your IST-CGK flight.

I don't really like the idea of paying full price for business class due to the downgrade (or lack thereof according to other threads in here) in business class service.

Buying an upgrade at the airport MIA - IST
I wanted to see if anyone has had a recent experience (during Covid) buying or being offered an upgrade at check in on Turkish on a flight from MIA to IST, or maybe from another US location? Thanks!

At BER, upgrades from Y to C were available for €190 on TK1724 January 13th. This price now seems to be standard when the business cabin is relatively empty. In my experience, TK has severely reduced the amount of C availability for both miles and E+ voucher upgrades, and is focussing on selling last minute airport paid upgrades.

So, Im curious how this works. We are pretty sure we will be flying Turkish from DFW to CAI, thru Istanbul. We are buying coach seats but could be interested in paying extra at the gate to upgrade to BC on the DFW-Istanbul route and the Istanbul-DFW route. Can someone please tell me how this works and what the cost could be. Thank you! (our other option to get to Cairo is on Qatar, going thru Doha-- any comments on pros/cons would be helpful)
