TK: IST-JNB-CPT ticket, get out at JNB
Hi,
I hope anyone can give me advice. I have booked an OJ IST-JNB-CPT and back JNB-IST on TK. However my plans have changed so that I would like to get out in JNB instead of CPT. JNB-CPT is the same flight number on the same aircraft. Passengers to JNB will unboard the plane and new passengers to CPT will board. Anyone can tell me if TK staff will check boarding passes when I want to get out at JNB. If not I assume there is no way they will know I already left the plane. I don't want to risk my ticket being canceled. I will travel only with carry on baggage in that case. There are also similar routings like this one (IST-SIN-CGK, IST-GRU-EZE...). So maybe someone can tell me if this will work out. Thanks in advance! Kapi |

I did the SIN-CPT flight on SQ that also has a short stop in JNB. On SQ they checked the boarding passes of everyone getting off and also everyone still on the plane and did a full check against the manifest. It was pretty tightly controlled so I don't think someone could get off if they weren't ticketed to JNB.
TK usually has very reasonable change fees though, give them a call, it will probably only cost you 50 Euros or so which is a lot cheaper than a one way CPT-JNB. |

Kapi You might have purchased a special fare .. which in this case might be problematic for you to change IST-JNB as the ticket must be reissued to reflect the new route and based upon CURRENT availability. Cancellation and change fees will apply as well as any new taxes. If you decide to deplane and exit quickly, without check in baggage, it may work.. however, TK staff might end up looking for you as the head count will be different from what the manifest says.. and you will definitely RISK the remainder ie return of your flight being cancelled. It may actually be cheaper for you to just buy a cheap one way from CPT back to JNB if that is the case. |
