Should I credit expensive United Business class flight to United MileagePlus or Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles?

Newbie here, first time flying business class, luckily paid by my employer.
I have a fligth from London to San Francisco, return ticket, will be booked on United fligth , valued around $10.000
United tells me it'll earn 75000 miles and 10.000 PQP.

My question; how many miles I'll earn if I use my Turkish Miles&Smiles number on this fligth?

I asked them, neither Turkish nor United know the answer. They just say I'll get 100%. But they don't know 100% of miles flown, or 100% of MileagePlus.

Will I earn 75000 miles on Turkish Miles&Smiles, or just around 6000 miles?

Thanks in advance.

This calculator is pretty accurate for me, but never credited/calculated miles for an UA operated flight: https://www.owenrudge.net/utils/starcalc/?p=TK

Youll earn a percentage of the miles flown based of the booking class.

For a LHR-SFO return ricket (UA) you will earn approx 10,600 miles with TK M&S (100%). If your fare class allows a higher earning than 100% it will be 50% more (but nowhere near 75,000)

2 Newbie questions

I'm planning my first flight on Turkish Airlines next April for me, my wife and our son (3 passengers total). Flying from Boston to Cairo, via istanbul. I'm hoping the experts on this forum can help with two questions:

1. Seat selection
It looks like Turkish Airlines charges a fee to select seats ($39 per seat for the Boston-Istanbul legs, $19 per seat for the Istanbul to Cairo flights). My wife and I are both United Gold (Star Alliance Goid). Does this status provide any benefits in terms of seat selection/cost?

2. Upgrades
The flight cost in economy is about $1,100. I think I saw that it's possible to upgrade flights on TK for $1,099 each way. is that correct? Is every booking in economy eligible for this offer or only certain fare classes (our fare class W for the outbound and L for the return)?

Thanks in advance for your help!

1- Standard seat selection is only complimentary for TK Elite & Elite Plus. Partner *G does not get complimentary seat selection unless the fare purchased allows one.
2- Discounted cash upgrades are subject to availability and only available closer to the flight date. It is not guaranteed that this offer would be available on your flight.

Have a ticket 220 stock issued by Lufthansa in economy class W.
One sector is a Lufthansa codeshare flight operated by Air India.
Lufthansa flights in W class earn 50% miles while Air India flights in W class earn 100% miles.
So will I be credited 50% or 100% of flown mikes in the Turkish miles and smiles program.

You are going to receive miles by the operating airline but LH W class codeshare does not necessarily translate to AI W class. How do you check? Most probably you have to wait and see the actual miles you receive unless someone has actual experience in such a case.

I booked an award flight last night. Because it was my wife's account and I will be the passenger, I needed to call in. Despite my best efforts to make sure all info and spellings were correct, the ticket was issued with the wrong gender/sex. I called back the same night and was told that if the name and DOB are correct, the gender doesn't matter. Does anybody know of instances where this is info is not correct? If it matters, my flights are on Turkish Airlines and only one-way ORD-IST-MED (Medina, Saudi Arabia).

You should not have a problem. The check in agent will fix the error in the system.

But yes you will be eligible for a free TK transit hotel because there is no earlier flight to ORD after your arrival from KTM
As soon as I started to buy the ticket from TK, the price jumped from $3.2k to $4.5k. So, I opted to go with QR with a similar itinerary, in which two of the four segments are in QSuite (hope, they dont change!), and costing me around $4.1k. I always enjoy a transit/stopover at Istanbul, but not this time around.

Planning a trip from US to TLV via IST. Not sure if this is an online issue or simply not possible. But say I want to depart SEA on 8/9 and land in IST 19:10 on 8/10. I want a longer layover that would have me depart IST at 7:00 on 8/11 and land at TLV at 9:00. Since this connection is <24 hours, it should be a layover and not a stopover. However, when searching SEA-TLV as a one way, the system only shows itineraries where the departure from IST to TLV is on 8/10 and not longer than 6 hours. If I do a paid cash search, the desired itinerary with a 15hr layover shows up so it makes me think it should be possible for an award booking.

Can I call in and get this ticketed or is this not possible?

Award ticket can have a stopover when the ticket is r/t and not only o/w. In addition, TK online interface does not have multi-city itinerary support for award tickets. Therefore, you we’ll need to call TK CS or a TK local office to have such an itinerary.

Yes, you need to call TK to book this. As long as you keep the IST layover less than 24h it should be fine. A stopover is not permitted for a o/w award.
