Just to confirm - I am on TK018 YYZ-IST tomorrow on a 77W, if I have a north american 2 prong AC plug, I dont need an adapter right? I have been trying to find a photo of the 77W power point but have had no luck.

Thank you,
Mark

I heard the seats are quite different and the A340 are really old and not so comfortable.

Thanks.
The TK A340s indeed don't feature flat beds in Business Class while the 777s have very comfortable flat beds, that's the biggest difference.

However, note that THY also operates some 777s in a different configuration with some seats in J being entirely different than the rest (these being the former First Class cabin), leased from Jet Airways:

I'm flying LHR-IST-LHR, both flights are A321. I'm seated in J and the seat map is showing 5 rows...will this be 3 x 3 layout or the new mid-haul J seat?

Yes and its very annoying at that! Evidently they want revenue from pax in 20 seats (3x3 with middle seat blocked) rather than from 16 seats based on the 4 rows 2x2 cradle seats.

I'm on the 22:30 every two weeks and it really is a little frustrating - meanwhile they usually have a 777 or 330 leaving at 16:30 which for most working businessmen isn't really an option.

Thats a shame - they wanted 300 more (return) to fly on the 777 or 330. Given TK's history of plane switches and the fact that its a relatively short flight I opted to take my chances on the 321. Plus, as you said, the 321 flight times are a bit better.

Seatguru says:

TK82 is an Airbus 330 with flat-bed business class seats with 159 degrees of recline so not a true lie-flat seat.

TK708 is a Boeing 737-800 with recliner seats with 5-6-inch recline so definitely not flat-bed seats.

welcome to FlyerTalk. I've moved your post to the Turkish Airways forum where it will get more views from members knowledgable about the airline's equipment.

Responders will please note that this thread originated at the flame-free Information Desk, and reply accordingly. Thanks everyone!

Also a warm welcome to the TK forum

TK82 varies equipment, it could be an A330-300 or A340-300. The A330 does offer flat beds while the A340 has angled seats.

TK82 is officially planned as a 340, but they throw a 330 at it once every four or five days (per flightaware) according to no truly discernible pattern. I'd count on having a 340 and then perhaps be pleasantly surprised if it turns out otherwise.

THY's A330-200s don't have flat beds, but the A330-300s do.

So far it seems like this is the pattern. 6/26 flight was an A333 by the way.

There's some strangeness from the seating charts on the BKK-IST TK 69 route. I've had our seats booked for months and finally came into range where we could get seat assignments. The website and our tickets (from US Airways) has always shown:

Flight TK69

Operated by 9W FOR TURKISH AIRLINES

Aircraft Type Boeing 777-300ER

Departure Bangkok , Suvarnabhumi International (BKK) Sunday xx September 2014 23:30

Arrival Istanbul , Ataturk (IST) - Terminal I Monday xx September 2014 05:35
However when I called to book the seats the agent seems to think it's an A340. I made a dummy booking on TK's website and it shows the aircraft as above in the display. However when I click on the flight on the next page it shows the seat chart as Plane Model AIRBUS A340-313.

According to airlineroute.net, the change should not be happening until Oct 20.

Is this a known glitch and are we actually getting the Boeing 777-300ER which has lie flat seats in J?

TK are notorious for showing incorrect equipment for routes etc. I'm still showing a 77W from IST-TLV in two weeks time when quite clearly the seat map shows A321!!!

The only correct seat map is the one where you can select your seats. This is the actual aircraft, still subject to changes though.
