SAW - Istanbul Sabiha airport...
There are some flights on TK that go to SAW... is it easy to get to town from that airport?
Are taxis reliable? Or should I just ask hotel to arrange for transfer?
Or should I just aim for IST airport?
Thanks!

I am flying into SAW on an upcoming trip. It is quite a bit farther from the city center than IST (Ataturk). My hotel suggested that I take the Havas bus (link below) from SAW to Taksim Square and then a taxi or tram from there. Apparently the Havas bus departure times are coordinated with every TK flight arrival so as to offer a smooth transfer. As my choice of SAW offered a HUGE savings over IST, I don't mind the bus trip at all.

It all depends on where youre staying and going to be spending most of your time. IST is on the European side of Istanbul whereas SAW is on the Asain side. SAW and surrounding areas are quite reliable, so no worries there.. If youre planning to take a taxi from SAW onto European side I think it'll cost around 80 TL (55 USD) and take you anywhere between 30-90 mins getting into town, whereas 30-60 mins from IST ..A more economical alternative is, as suggested taking Havas bus. If youre staying on the European side, for all intensive purposes, I would suggest flying into IST.

Crossing the bridge from Asia to Europe and vice-versa is a nightmare. I would avoid it during rush hour. I have never flown from SAW, but I generally prefer to take a boat across the Bosphorous. It certainly takes a long time (combined with a taxi at each end), but can even be faster (and more pleasant) than the bridge depending on where you are going and the time of day, especially if you are going to the old city.

Nope. No direct connection.
You can take the Havas Bus to Taksim. And then take the S. Gokcen Airport Havas Bus from there.
OR
- Havas Bus from IST to Bakirkoy Seabus Port,
- the seabus from Bakirkoy to Bostanci
- the city bus (E9) from Bostanci to SAW.
During rush hour second option is better.

Many thanks in advance.

Then I can check timetables for you. It is a little bit complicated. But I guess you need 120minutes travelling time to on the safe side.
There is a Havas bus for every departure from Bakirkoy to Bostanci. It leaves 20 minutes before the scheduled departure time from the airport.
If you take "Bakirkoy -> Kadikoy -> Bostanci" seabus, it takes 30-40 minutes.
If you take "Bakirkoy -> Yenikapi -> Kadikoy -> Bostanci" seabus, it takes 40-50 minutes.
You can find the schedule on http://www.ido.com.tr/en/index.cfm.
From Bostanci, Bus E9, is at every hundred hour.
http://www.iett.gov.tr/en/saat/harek...tnSaatler.y=10
And it takes 45-50 minutes. (35km.)
So 120minutes travelling time is a good estimate.
Good luck!

Seems like the HAVAS buses have ceased operations according to their website.
Other forums have recommended this shuttle service starting at EUR 10.

Any other ideas - my flight gets into SAW at 2.50 AM

Havas services have been replaced by HAVATAS--same company different name (somewhat local politics causing that).
http://havatas.com/en/
The associated links for timings do not seem to be currently online, but the services DO exist from SAW to Taksim as well as SAW to Kadikoy.
I believe the first bus from SAW leaves around 05:00.
