Thanks for sharing this very interesting article.

I think there are two other factors of success, other than the ones mentioned:
- a relatively young fleet keeps maintenance down
- a focus on one hub makes the hub-spoke model very efficient (though downgrading ESB is controversial in Turkey)

This is a crazy statistic: "By 2009, 41 million passengers flew domestically in Turkey—a five-fold increase in seven years—according to the civil aviation authority."
