I think there are two other factors of success, other than the ones mentioned:
- a relatively young fleet keeps maintenance down
- a focus on one hub makes the hub-spoke model very efficient (though downgrading ESB is controversial in Turkey)

As the article points out, there are many bumps ahead for TK.

Just curious - does anyone know where in the city the third airport mentioned in the article is supposed to be located?
