Global Entry Expired-best way to keep TSA pre-check?

Hi--I had Global entry and it expired. I'm no longer expecting any global travel for a while. However, I would like to keep TSA pre-check which I was given either through the Global entry program or through American Airlines (I can't remember exactly how I got TSA pre-check).

Since my global entry expired, I assume my TSA pre-check privileges did also, but I'm not sure how to check since I don't have a TSA precheck number that starts with TT (which is what the TSA website requires). I do have a Trusted Traveler number.

What is the best/easiest way to maintain TSA pre-check or do I need to apply for TSA pre-check from scratch. I'd prefer not to have to travel to an airport for an interview like I had to do for Global entry and least expensive method would be great also.

Also, for future reference is there a time limit for renewal on global entry before having to start that from scratch again --and does this automatically give TSA pre-check?

You'd have to reapply for global entry or apply for precheck only. The latter is $85 versus $100 for global entry. There are many more locations for precheck enrollment, so no need to go to an airport. I think you can enroll for precheck at my local Staples store, for example.

$15 to cover the chance you might travel internationally sometime in the next 5 years seems reasonable to me. I would just renew my GE card, even if I had to pay for it myself.
