PreCheck in-person fee payment where cardholder ≠ applicant?

Hi all,
Have a card with a GE/PreCheck fee credit benefit I haven't used. I'm wondering if I can accompany someone else to their PreCheck enrollment appointment and use my card to pay the $85 fee? (Applicant has no plans to travel internationally, and given the shutdown affecting GE interviews, PreCheck seems like a better choice for them.)

It wouldn't have even occurred to me that this would be an issue (it isn't in GOES, where the payment is done online), but did come across this, which I wasn't sure was a credible source:
https://uponarriving.com/tsa-pre-check/
"Note: If you are paying with a credit card, that credit card will likely have to be in your name."
Any experiences? Thanks in advance!

The applicant for PreCheck need not be the person who shows up to pay for the PreCheck application for another person.

TSA does not care who pays.

But, check that your card benefit includes payment for a third party's benefit. That is an issue which has nothing to do with TSA because it is simply a matter of your contract with your card issuer (bank).

Nope they don't care. I used my card to pay someone else's Pre-check application fee and got the statement credit all the same.

Though itís been a while, did want to update here to confirm I had no issue with this either (actually paid for two non-me family members in the same visit).

I used a Chase card and the fee credit posted without issue (to Often1ís point, no idea if other issuersí policies may vary or if they even have any way of knowing).
