Have PreCheck, but haven't flown with a laptop in ages...

I have TSA PreCheck.

I have not flown with my laptop in ages. So if I am flying with my laptop in a backpack, do I need to pull the laptop OUT of the backpack (still in its case) or can I leave the laptop IN the backpack?

I don't want up to hold up the lines. Thanks in advance!!!
