4 month wait for a GE Interview? Anyone know a workaround?

Hi....all four of us were approved for an interview, but the wait for the GE center near us is 4 MONTHS...is this normal? Does anyone know a workaround?

Do you have any upcoming international flights? I know some airports are offering interviews on arrival. SFO has a sign out for that in the arrivals hall.

You can also check the Global Entry web site for cancellations and try to rebook. I did that, though it was just me and not a party of four, and had an interview in about 3 weeks. Do you currently have a single appointment for all of you or multiple appointments?

If you check diligently, you'll probably get in there much sooner. I was able to get in within a couple of weeks by checking once a day for an open slot. There seem to be a lot of cancellations!

OP - You have not told us where you wish to interview. Some stations permit walk-ins and some do not. Some stations say that they do not, but will nonetheless grant them when asked and things are slow.

But, most important is that there are routinely cancellations. Often those are 1-2 days out. If you can only grab 1-2 slots, still take all 4. There is a good chance that an Officer will process all 4.

I am in the same situation with SFO. No appointment till June. And based on how DMV's around here work, I'm not willing to waste a whole day on a "walk-in" appointment. Will try to monitor the schedule everyday for any last minute cancellations. Wish there was some sort of way to turn on notifications for that.

For the old GOES system, there was: The GE Cancellation Checker browser script. (Here are 9 threads on Reddit mentioning it.) Unfortunately it hasn't been updated for TTP.

Someone else on Reddit reported that the Chrome extension VisualPing was able to check for new dates availability, as did someone on FT -- and it sounds promising for TTP also.

Are you trying to keep 4 appointments near the same time as each other?
If so, looking for single appointments should give a lot more availability.

When we signed up (albeit some time ago), we selected the first two appointments that were within, say, an hour of each other, and that was months in advance.
Then, we kept checking, and sure enough, appointments were opening up earlier. We ended up getting two back to back, on a day and time that was particularly convenient for us.

Also, do check if they allow walk-ins, or "waiting by the door"
Our site had a couple of benches outside "the door" and they told us two things: We *could* have just showed up, and waited, and they'd have taken us if they had the time, although no guarantee. Also, they specifically said to KNOCK at the door to announce we'd be waiting (note: we were *not* waiting; this was in response to "what if" an appointment hadn't opened up and we had needed it...), although I can imagine other officials specifically NOT liking this...

I flew up to Seattle and drove to the CA/US border where I was able to make an appointment within a week. Some places will be more available than others, like border crossing towns vs. airports.

Check some of the surrounding locations. IIRC there is an office down in MS (Gulfport?) That has (or had) a pretty much wide open availability. Not an ideal drive down, but could be much worse (like waiting 4 months.) Just because you're in Nashville doesn't mean that's where you have to do your interview.

Maybe you can find an appointment at a major hub and grab a cheap flight?
