Got Nexus approval email before interview ...
Nexus interview scheduled for next week, but for some reason I received an approval email from GOES ...
Has anyone experienced this? I assume I still need to show up for the interview? |
That's weird. You'd still have to show up to do finger prints and an iris scan I'd assume. Must be a system glitch or something.
|
Wondering if maybe the email just refers to approval on the US side (I've been a GE member for over 5 years)? My fingerprints are in the system but not my iris scan but presumably the latter is only for Canada?
|
Yes your GE must have something to do with it. I'd be surprised if cbsa didn't at least want to talk to you before giving final approval for nexus.
Edit - actually looking at the large nexus thread it seems as if GE members are now being fully approved for nexus without an interview by cbsa. So looks like there won't be any need for you to attend the interview unless you want the iris scan done. You should get an email from cbp advising you of this. |
Indeed. Just received follow up email. No mention of iris though.
Thank you for your continued interest in CBP's Trusted Traveler Programs. After additional review, it has been determined that your application could be approved without an additional in person enrollment interview. If you had a scheduled appointment, it will be cancelled on your behalf with the approval of your application. If you receive a membership card in the mail, you can activate the card through your GOES account. No further action is required. This is an automated email. Please do not reply. |
Yeah you'll only need the iris scan if you plan on using your nexus to travel to Canada by air I believe. Can probably pop into a Canadian nexus office whenever you're around one to get this done.

Where do I even find out about these US iris locations?
|
No US locations offer iris scans. Some US locations at the border are near CBSA offices which will do the iris scan, however.
http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/prog/nexus/location-eng.html lists all NEXUS enrollment centers and which ones have (or are adjacent to offices that have) iris scans. |
