Crazy stuff. After digging I think I found the issue. My airline profile has my correct date of birth, but for some reason, my travel agent was booking my ticket with the wrong DOB (it was off by one day). I just had the problem corrected and we'll see what happens when I travel next week.

This is a great thread! It is all so confusing, no surprise since we are talking government...but oh well. I (US Citizen) got GE a year+ ago; I got pre check on all my trips last year and early this year. My wife who is a LPR Canadian was not eligible, so in April we went and both got NEXUS since we travel to Canadian a lot. Well since then I have not had precheck on any flight. My wife had it on the very first flight we took after getting our cards PHX-PHL-ZRH and back. She has not gotten it on any of our recent domestic flights. I am going to review all our profiles and numbers, names etc. and see if I can find an issue, so very frustrating.

GE and TSA Pre Question
Just to confirm, if my first, middle and last name is ABC respectively, and if I don't add my middle name (B) in my frequent flyer account along with my KTN, that can mess up me getting TSA Pre?
Note: My first, middle and last name is listed on my GE Card. In other words is the middle name really that sensitive, where it could mess up me getting TSA Pre? Or is it just the spelling of the manes and DOB that need to match exactly as on my GE card?

Some people with GE membership are on TSA temp/permanent blacklists which inhibit the person from receiving PreCheck LLL or which inhibit the person from receiving it above a certain frequency level and/or on certain kinds of routes.
This year alone I've see the boarding passes for dozens of people with TSA Precheck LLL whose name on the tickets, on the boarding passes and in the Secure Flight fields didn't have a middle name despite the GE cards having middle names. This year, they've been 100% PreCheck LLL. And I'm talking about passengers who mostly don't have FF elite status of their own and are in the age range of 25-65. Not a big difference from what I observed in 2014 too.
The KTN and SecureFlight entries being manually entered in the airline PNR is what I suggest over auto-population from a FFN profile. The Secure Flight first and last name and sex and birthdate info should also be checked on a PNR basis.

Why would TSAa have a blacklist on GE members? I have GE and been frustrated that I never get the pre-check on AA which is what I fly the most. I even had check-in try for me on AA earlier this week and still never went through. I rarely fly JetBlue but I got the pre-check with it a few hours ago.

Why would some people have GE membership still valid but not have PreCheck LLL happen always or nearly always? Well, the reasons vary-- reasons ranging from (a) that is what the government wants (b) to that the airline and/or government information exchange of passenger related info is a bit messed up.

How often do you not get pre-check as someone who paid for it?
So I did not get pre check for the first time today as someone who's paid for Pre Check. Of course I know its not guaranteed but I'm curious to hear how often others here don't get pre-check "randomly" even being fully enrolled in the program.

So far I have gotten PreCheck 100% since I enrolled in GE with its accompanying PreCheck benefit. Prior to that I was getting it through AA pushing me forward to TSA as a advanced FF member and I was doing pretty good but not quite 100%. Some new contract work has me flying a lot on DL where I'm short of advanced FF status so was not getting PreCheck until I enrolled in GE. Now that's working apparently as I've gotten it every flight since. i suspect I'll hit a glitch or non-select sooner or later.

100% since GE.
I had one occasion when I did not see the PRE logo on my BP, called UA Web Services, had them pull my KTN and reenter it and when I reprinted, I had the logo.
Was told by the Web Services people that almost all Pre denials for GE/TSA-PRE are the result of a glitch in the KTN or the ticket being issued with an extra space or somesuch in one of the name fields.

I have GE and have gotten precheck for every flight except once when I assigned my miles to an alliance member, not the airline I was flying (UA to LH)
I called up customer service, asked them to reassign the miles, and I had Pre- on my new boarding pass.
Even though I changed my FFM at the gate, I still had Pre- on the way back, so it may just have been re-issuing the BP that did the trick.
