How do I add NEXUS to my existing Global Entry membership?
- On the TTP home page, select "Manage My Membership"
- Then click on the "Add Trusted Traveler Program." Make any changes necessary
- On the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Trusted Traveler Program List page, select the checkbox next to the NEXUS option
- On the next page you will see the NEXUS logo. You will need to provide additional information and answer questions; (some of these questions are very similar)
- Once all the application information is entered/ corrected, certify your application and pay the fee
- Applicants seeking to use NEXUS to enter Canada must complete an enrollment interview with the Canada Border Services Agency (some with GE received NEXUS card without interview)
- An iris scan is needed; contact lenses must be removed to do the initial scan. Scan does not have to be done at the same time as the interview
Applying for NEXUS after having Global Entry (i.e., Replacing GE with NEXUS)

Your Global Entry is valid until GE's expiration date. Once you activate your NEXUS card, your GE card will be de-activated.

Considering that someone must complete the interview after conditional approval within 730 days, would it be wise to wait within 6 months of GE expiration? Assuming the start date of your Nexus runs from the final approval date ?
ps
I don’t usually travel to Canada and live far from an enrollment center
Thanks

From the Trusted Traveler Programs Frequently Asked Questions:
NEXUS and FAST-North must complete the enrollment within 5 years of receiving conditional approval.

Apologies if this has been answered but didn't see an exact same scenario. My infant got fully approved for GE yesterday, but the rest of us actually have NEXUS because we go back and forth. Given how long NEXUS seems to be taking, I figured one direction was better than no directions, hence the GE.
Does anyone know if applying for NEXUS now will impact his GE card being mailed? (Should I wait for it to arrive first before submitting the NEXUS app?)

His Global Entry card will be deactivated upon the approval and activation of his NEXUS card after he receives final approval of his NEXUS application.

The wait time to receive new TT cards is longer than CBP suggests, it took three weeks for my card to arrive.

I've had GE for a while and applied for Nexus a few months ago since I'm near the windsor land crossing and figure it would save me a lot of time crossing that direction as well and application is still pending and sounds like a lot of people have been waiting a lot longer for conditional approval.
Do they offer interview on arrival off a US flight once you are conditionally approved like the US does for Global entry or am I going to be forced to go to a center. I am less than an hour drive from the Detroit center but heard interviews are months out and thought it might be easier just to do a quick weekend get away and fly to Toronto if they did interviews on arrival there.
Since I've already have GE will I still need to interview with the US again or just canada?
Good advice. when I got GE the first time I interviewed a few days before my birthday. But I was just happy to find an interview the day I was leaving on an international trip that was happening during my birthday and was able to use it for a tight connection coming home.

I'm within 1 year of expiration for my GE. Would renewing it at $100 and then applying for nexus allow for me not to have to pay the $50? Or two separate programs and won't help to renew GE as it will be canceled when approved for Nexus?
(yes my cc covers only for GE, any cards recently work for Nexus in the US?)

You can renew Global Entry first then apply for NEXUS, but not the other way around.

All the Chase cards in the US that offer GE reimbursement now cover NEXUS as well to the best of my knowledge. Side benefit of the Chase Aeroplan new card. Premium travel cards in Canada offer NEXUS across the board and issuers, but in the US it's only Chase as far as I know.
