Honestly? Maybe with the exception of BKK, I would much rather go through TSA here in the US (with PreCheck of course) than any of those locations. Not only do all of those locations require you to take out your laptops and be 'liquid compliant' (something you mostly get a reprieve from with PreCheck), many of those locations (Europe, HKG, SIN to name a few) make you take out your tablets in ADDITION to your laptops (something even non-PreCheck TSA doesn't make you do).

Not to mention that at international airports where screening is genuinely less painful than TSA (DXB and DOH come to mind for me), there is always secondary screening for US, Australia and UK-bound flights, negating that 'benefit'. And the secondary screening tends to be the painful TSA type with no option for PreCheck.

I'll take PreCheck over the vast majority of international airport screening today, thanks.

Have to say that in late May FCO was a significant if not giant pain. They were making everybody take every piece of electronics, cords, chargers, batteries, electric toothbrushes......basically anything even remotely related to electricity.....out and place in individual plastic bags. With two phones, two iPads, three digital cameras, converters, et al for what had been nearly four weeks in Europe we had a lot of stuff. Might be considered a "self-inflicted wound" because we maybe should have known and packed accordingly but made even a full on TSA bag search seem pleasant.:D

I was connecting in LHR, (JFK-LHR-ZRH), about 2 years ago. I had a 10 gram tube (actually prescription ointment), which was not placed in the "baggie". LHR security caught this infraction: every single item in that carry-on was inspected and swabbed for explosives.:td:
PS: TSA at JFK had no problem with my ointment.

If it was properly labeled as a prescription it shouldn't have mattered. Prescriptions are exempt from the 311 rule for the simple fact they're prescriptions. However when dealing with security you're not normally dealing with people that are highly motivated to know all the exceptions to the rules.

I forgot to mention that many of those countries conduct 100% secondary carry-on baggage screening on the jetbridge to check for liquids on flights to the USA, so you cannot buy a bottle of water after security to take on board! (really annoying when those flights are 16+ hours!)

I've flown out of NZ, Aust. and Brazil. While they did secondary searches I was never made to give up my liquid purchased after security. Not sure why they'd do that since you wouldn't even be able to buy duty free if that was the case.

the topic is whether Precheck can be taken away

Not so much whether the TSA are doing a good job or not. Thanks.

I watched it happen on the jet bridge to First and Business pax on my HKG-DFW and HKG-JFK flights over the past month, on different airlines. Local security personnel hand-searched all carry-on luggage and removed bottles of water, including brand-new sealed bottles. Several customers were not happy, having spend a pretty penny to buy water from a terminal vendor after security.

Liquid duty-free items were permitted through because they were in the special tamper-evident bags.

Duty free shops at HKG should start selling bottled water and putting the bottles in the special bags for those traveling to US/UK/AUS!

Odd. Today I didn't get the precheck on my UA flight to GRU nor my return (ORD-GRU-EWR-AMS). A bit surprised. I am a GE since the beginning and had precheck last week when I was doing my Asia runs.
