The Shutdown ends today, so I wonder whether this might have an impact on GOES application approvals. If they haven't been working on these over the past 3 weeks or so there will be a serious backlog now.

Let's hope so - I hit 6 weeks today, and travel next week. Can't say I'm particularly hopeful, but right now I'm more relieved that DC might actually be open so I can do something!

Enjoy your trip to DC. Remember to take all your GE paperwork with you - you never know when your conditional approval might arrive!

Having just returned from the US, my next trip isn't till the beginning of Jan, so hopefully when I do get approved I can get an appointment for then, so I can use it on my flight after that to LAX. Hopefully we'll see another wave of approvals soon though.

Maybe email Larry, he may be able to advise on the length of backlog?

Good idea - I've just dropped Larry an email. See whether he has any ideas about how long we need to wait.

I actually did that on Friday, asking very politely - haven't had a response from him, so I suspect the processing really is not his area at all.

Ditto - I emailed over the weekend although got an out of office saying he wasn't back until Monday so he might have a backlog of code request emails that he returned to!

I actually emailed him ages ago and he did reply (after a week as was out of the office)

His reply was you have been conditionally approved - then the goes email came through. Maybe just coincidence but anyway!
