My timeline:

UK Border Force Code provided – 17 February 2022
Applied for GE via TTP site – 17 February 2022
Conditional Approval - 21 June 2022 (two days before my LHR > JFK flight)
Interview – 23 June 2022

The interview was very brief (less than 10 minutes, including the time spent on collecting my biometrics). At the end, I was told that the application has been approved and was given a piece of paper with my KTN written down.

It's been a week since, and my status on the web site is still 'Conditionally Approved'. I thought the approval usually happens immediately or not very long after the interview.

Do people have to wait for the final approval to be updated on the web site?

Sounds odd. I had a similar situation when I did EOA last week in T7. There was an issue with the fingerprint scanners in the whole terminal and wasn't really working when I had my interview. Called up the GE office later that day, they checked the application and said the fingerprints hadn't worked and I would have to redo it although no need to schedule. Went back to JFK, there is an office in T4 arrivals. Explained the situation. I was asked if I'd been arrested or any customs violations then photo and fingerprints. Five minutes later it said approved online and I had precheck for my flight out two days ago. If yours still hasn't come through I would advise you to call up the JFK office, NOT THE MAIN LINE they're useless.

And yes, you have to wait for full approval to use the KTN

Conditional Approval - 27/06/2022

So it's looking quite sporadic as to whether you will get CA before an imminent trip or at a different point. Maybe depends on which vetting centre it goes to?
Sorry to disappoint but I don't think this breaks the trend at all. I'm no expert but what I can see from this thread and what happened to me is that you receive Conditional Approval if you've been waiting along time, something like 6 months, OR if u have a recent flight. This seems to be the trend.

Both my parents (UK residents) applied back on May 23. They travel on ESTA. Conditional approval was received around 3 AM UK time on the day before their flight to the US, allowing them to complete EoA after they landed on June 28. Definitely a trend.

We applied for GE on April 15th, still waiting. First flight is due on 19th July so hoping we get the conditional approval before then. What I don't understand is how do they know when you are arriving? This info isn't shared in the application or on the ESTA.

I would imagine if you add your API to the airline booking ahead of the flight, that is how they will know when you are next due to enter. The airline shares your API with the authorities.

With all due respect, there are people who have been waiting a lot longer than six months. I was particularly talking about the trend where people were being given Conditional Approval shortly before their flights. Given more recent applicants seem to be getting approval now with no immediate flights, maybe CBP is just catching up with the backlogs - I'd expect many of the UK applications go to the same vetting center in the US.

UK Border Force Code provided - 10 March 2022
Applied for GE via TTP site - 10 March 2022
Conditional Approval - 7 July 2022
Expected date of next arrival in the USA: 17 August 2022

Now problem is to work out if DFW (Dallas Airport) allows walk ins without an appointment. It seems that they close at 3pm but our flight lands at 5pm and there are no bookable appointments online.

Enrollment on Arrival is available at immigration in Terminal D until 6PM, so if your flight is on time you should be OK for that.

Let me just add, in case that Yanshuf is unaware, that no appointments are necessary for EoA:

Please refer to the wikipost in the following thread:

Global Entry Enrollment on Arrival
Enrollment on Arrival is a program operated by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to allow Global Entry applicants who are conditionally approved to complete their interviews upon arrival into the United States. The Enrollment on Arrival program eliminates the need for a Global Entry applicant to schedule an interview at an enrollment center to complete the application process.

When landing in an international terminal follow the signage directing you to CBP officers who can complete your Global Entry interview during your admissibility inspection. You won’t need any additional documents other than the requisite documents for international travel (e.g., your passport).

Yes, thanks for that reply TWA884. Your quote there was about enrolling upon landing from an international flight. That option will not be available for us as we will land at 5pm and it seems that the enrollment on arrival services cease at 3pm at DFW. That is why I am wondering about the possibility of getting enrolled the following day (without an appointment) by simply walking into the relevant part of DFW.

The CBP Enrollment on Arrival page lists the hours of operation at DFW as 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

I do not recall seeing any reports, recent or old, of successful walk-in interviews at DFW in the Global Entry Walk-In Interviews thread, however, if necessary, it never hurts to try.

P.S. I just realized what your username is ינשוף.
