I applied 27th Sept 2020 and it still says 'wait for conditional approval' - judging by the data points on this thread this seems a little excessive even with current backlogs? Any advice? Have emailed (no reply) and rung up (agent unhelpfully asked me to wait till the 12 month mark...)

I applied for renewal (technically of NEXUS rather than Global Entry, but on the CBP side they use the same system) in February. Not quite as long of a wait as yours yet, but I'm also still waiting for "conditional approval". By contrast, my initial approval in 2016 only took a few days. They have extended membership privileges for 24 months past the expiration date for renewals; we can infer from that that wait times of more than a year are not unheard of anymore.

Are GE's being extended due to COVID-19? Mine is still showing expiry at the date 5 years from when it started so assume I have not been given an extension.

My renewal is next April.

My border force check came back today so I processed my renewal and when it was all done it popped up and said all renewal applications now have a 24 month grace period whilst they're processed. But you'd obviously need to apply for renewal for this to apply.

That being said, from what I've heard the renewals aren't taking all that long to process at the moment.

I think my renewal earlier this year was about 3-4 weeks between completing and submitting the form on the TTP site, and it being processed. So yes fairly quick considering.

So in the almost year long saga of my global entry application, I've just gotten a response from CBP stating that:

Your application has been processed by the U.S. and is currently waiting on the your home country to submit your information to CBP. We do not have a timeframe on your country's approval process, however, your status on your TTP account will automatically be updated when your status changes. Please reach out to your government customs or immigration body and make sure that they enter the information into the system for processing.

I'm a UK citizen so I already completed the background check and received a code from the Home Office that I submitted with my application. Does anyone know what other step they're referring to - AFAIK it's now at the stage where the US conducts its own checks? I'm not sure the UK Home Office would be able to do much?

Got an email just now telling me of a change. Logged in and my Global Entry membership has been extended until April 2027.
No interview required.

Originally paid the Home office fee on the 29th July, so just over 4 weeks after getting the code from them and paying the US fee etc.

My wife had a similar issue.
She had her problem resolved by emailing [email protected] and asking for them to escalate her case to US CBP global entry manager. She had to do this a second time after no change after a 3 month wait. But worked a dream second time around. And conditional approval came through a couple of weeks after second email.

hope this helps…….

We are both UK citizens who still live here and find GE excellent value for money and found it exceedingly smooth to use.
When applying for renewal do you have to apply for a new code from Border Force?

Have just applied as a first time applicant and am hoping I can do my interview on the 22nd - so hopefully it doesn't take as long as the 10 days + 2 weeks quoted...!

Received my check code in less than 24 hours - on a Saturday morning. Very efficient. Hope the US authorities are equally fast!

My family has GE and although we got our UK check codes within 24 hours it took about ~140 days to get conditional approval.

i think first time takes a lot longer so i suspect you won't get it by 22 Nov. Even if doing a renewal i think it would be tight.
