The current problem in DEN is that they have had only two TSA Pre-Check x-ray machines running. It causes the screening lines to back up, which then forces CLEAR customers to wait until TSA allows them to proceed into the screening line. It definitely appears to be faster to go directly through the Pre-Check line.

Hey I just got CLEAR for free on the AMEX gold like a lot of people....

Anyway ---- sounds like American Airlines hates CLEAR, ..... at O'hare/ ORD ..... the "Clear Terminals" are only set up in Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Not Terminal 3 where American Airlines is.

HOWEVER, it is a 5 minute walk from Terminal 2 to Terminal 3 once behind TSA/ security.

Is it possible/ does it make sense to just go through Terminal 2 using CLEAR --- avoid 15-30 minutes of a security line certain days -- and then walk 5 minutes to the other terminal? I'm just not sure if security makes a stink about it, or if CLEAR works with an American Airlines boarding pass, or what.

If I have no checked luggage, I almost always enter at Terminal 2. Last month, I checked in and got an AA boarding pass at T3, saw a long line for TSA, and walked to T2 to use Clear. I find it worthwhile.

I suspect more to do with first DL and then UA joining them as stakeholders in CLEAR.

CLEAR does not care what airline you're on, as long as you have a valid boarding pass (but it is true that they have better integration with DL and UA wherein if your travel is on those airlines it will automatically pull up an electronic version of your BP without your having to scan it). It merely replaces the ID check in the security process.

Excerpts from an email I received today:
Announcing Resy’s CLEAR Partnership

With CLEAR, you have access to a complimentary digital vaccine card — available in just a few taps on your smart phone — that serves as proof of both vaccination and identification.

And because Resy is committed to supporting the restaurants you love, we’re offering participating Resy restaurants complimentary access to CLEAR’s Health Pass system.

Here’s how to unlock your digital vaccine card:
  1. Download the CLEAR app.
  2. Select the blue digital vaccine card tile and link to your COVID vaccine record. You’ll unlock a unique, secure card that can be shown to restaurants.
  3. Present your digital vaccine card within the CLEAR app when you dine out. That’s it! Here’s how to unlock your digital vaccine card:

If I apply for CLEAR today, does it get approved on same day or takes a few days? I already have GE and I will be flying out of LAX on Nov 26 where I want to try.

You should be good, all else equal. You enroll online and arrive a few minutes early for your flight, get scanned and entered into the Clear system and then get escorted to the front of your TSA line (regular or PreCheck) and be on your way.

Get on Clear's emailing list, you will get whatever offer they are running. I had a free two-month offer that expired yesterday on one of my non-Clear email accounts.

CLEAR in Atlanta

Is anyone else wondering if it is worth it? Each time I use the Clear + precheck line I wonder if my picture should be in the dictionary next to the definition of insanity (as I keep doing the same thing over and over but never get a different result). I pick a person who enters the regular security line and almost always see that person get through the line before I do. I do give credit to one Clear agent who (on a Monday) finally started telling people to go to regular TSA precheck because that line was faster. More often though there is no measure of how long the line will take. My most recent experience - when I got to the front of the line, the Clear rep said "we are opening another line for Clear!" But when another pax noted that TSA had just let the regular line folks go into the (now) two Clear screening lines, the Clear guy exclaimed "Yes, but that line isn't Clear!"

Maybe I just need to suck it up and start taking off my shoes and going back to taking out liquids. Or realize that Clear gives away too many memberships and dilutes the value of the concept (something I mention in every survey they send me).

Yes, these are first world problems.

If you look at the pre pandemic posts you find CLEAR in Atlanta is slower than regular Pre during peak times. Sounds like that is still the case.

CLEAR is like a bouncer let you in at the front of the line at a club; only works if it is exclusive. But in this case, everyone at ATL has CLEAR rendering it worst than a normal line.

TPG article explaining the process - sounds like a separate line that won't clog up the Clear kiosks that the paid members use.

Too true. I arrived at ATL domestic at 9:15am and today the CLEAR “greeter” was kind enough to ask if I was in a hurry because regular TSA was running faster than CLEAR + TSA. I decided to go regular and got through in less than 5 minutes. I watched people in the CLEAR line who would have been 20 spots in front of me still waiting to get scanned. I feel liberated.
