Some useful info.
My GE Expired a week earlier and I hadn't noted the date, until Pre-Ck wasn't on a domestic Boarding Pass.
My application was treated as a "Renewal."
Applied 6/22 and Approved 7/19. Looks like a month is not atypical.
Best thing is that the approval of the Renewal was made without another interview. I had hope (correctly) the "may" in the guidance would apply in my favor. Clean living!
But my First advice in this thread still holds: Reapply BEFORE Expiration, that way you get an extended 6 months beyond Expiration and not have to go through the waiting game with GE and at TSA/Customs!
Best to all of you -- appreciated the support. Safe Travels."Also, a renewal may be approved without needing to schedule another interview. In this case, a new card will be mailed to the address on file."

Thanks MNBP! Still waiting for my approval, so was starting to get worried.

Used GE kiosk on 7/13 and got a notice that it expires it 20 some days. Renewed on 7/14. Received the email that I was approved on 7/19 (from the office at JFK). Impressed at how fast it was, and I thought there may be an issue as my driver's license is from another state (ie not NY).

My wife and I both applied and paid for renewal on 7/17/2018.
We were both approved without interview on 7/22/2018....wow, 5 days!

Question? Will we receive new Global Entry cards in the mail with the new expiration date?

From my TTP Dashboard: A card replacement is not the same as a renewal. If your card replacement request is approved, your program membership's expiration date remains the same.
Note: A Global Entry Card is not required for air travel. A card is required when traveling between the United States and Canada or when arriving into the United States from Mexico at a land port of entry. If you need a replacement card, please begin by selecting a reason why you are requesting a new card:

You should receive new Global Entry cards in the mail 7-10 days from final approval.

Thank you! After posting I went back and read other replies concerning new GE cards. I'm a noobie.

You are welcome. We were all newbies at one time. As you found out, most of your questions are answered in the thread already.

Does anyone have any insight as to why some people are approved in less than a week and others take over a month?

I have never seen anyone on these threads who can predict or explain anything to do with GE. Very helpful people on this thread but the way this works is a mystery.

Do you have a common first and/or last name?

Anyone have any idea how understaffed CBP may be these days?

Update: Approval received 7/25/2018, no interview required.
