US/Canadian-issued ABTC can only be used to access the APEC/Crew/Diplomat lane. It does not replace/waive any visa requirements. Chinese embassy webpages mentioning visa not being required is for ABTC with CHN endorsed on the back. No US/Canadian-issued ABTC will have that endorsement.
The button to renew your US/Canadian ABTC will appear in your profile 30 days before the card expiration date.

With the RealID requirements, I decided to see if I could use my ABTC this past weekend; at least in LAS they said it was no bueno as a form of government ID. Was the TSA agent misinformed, or does my ABTC not qualify as a Federal ID?
n.b. of course I had plenty of other ways to prove I'm me.

My sense is that as more people get ABTCs and RealID goes in effect the card will work like other DHS trusted traveller documents.
As FTers we're far more likely to have all sorts of esoteric travel patterns and strategies that would be very much not obvious to others, e.g. connecting via PDX because of the surfeit Priority Pass buffet in the City of Roses.

My ABTC is issued by the US government. My sense from the TSA agent is that he had not seen one before, and it would be more expedient for me to use one of many alternative forms of ID in my travel kit.

Went today for my ABTC interview, however apparently the software was updated 3 days ago and they can no longer record the signature on the pad. Anyone else have this problem?
Was told need to come back for this, I waited over 2 months for this interview

If you have ABTC you have a Global Entry card and that has already been designated as acceptable ID. Not to mention a Passport Card and passport.
I realize most of us (myself included) leave passport at home if not traveling internationally but presumably you can carry the GE or passport card if flying domestically.

Folks,
This thread is about ABTC/APEC Business Travel Card, not what are acceptable forms of identification at TSA security checkpoints.
While some natural deviation from the topic of the thread is perfectly acceptable, please let's keep the focus of this discussion on experiences with the ABTC/APEC card; we have plenty of threads in the Practical Travel Safety and Security Issues forum dealing with the issue of acceptable ID's for domestic travel including this one:

Does anyone have an update on how to get a new APEC card when it won't expire for a few years but you've renewed your passport so the passport number referenced on the card is wrong. I can't seem to find anyway to do this? Anyone have experience doing this?

Nexus / GE US Citizen here. Applied for the APEC card and they approved and prompted for me to schedule an interview. I assume this is just for them to capture my signature if I am reading the posts right. The options they gave me are all inconvenient NEXUS locations. Can I just go to JFK office as a walk in to complete this or do I really have to go to Niagra falls?

HELP!
I have Global Entry and NEXUS.
I applied for APEC in November and was conditionally approved. I was going to be flying into SFO from HKG the following week, so I asked to have my interview for APEC done at after arriving at SFO.
CBP officer says I'm only allowed to attach my APEC membership to Global Entry. Attaching it to NEXUS is not allowed.
"Okay," I said.
CBP officer then told me that my Global Entry expires in January, and once my Global Entry expires, so will my APEC membership (IF they do the APEC interview now). He advised me to wait until I'm eligible to renew my Global Entry (which, according to him, is the day after my birthday when my Global Entry officially expires), and then renew it ASAP so that I can interview for Global Entry and APEC at the same time.
But then, I read on BoardingArea that it's better to renew Global Entry before it expires, so that you can still use Global Entry after it expires (for about seven months?). The only thing is, when I log into my trusted traveler / CBP account, it only shows that I've been conditionally approved for APEC; and my only active membership is NEXUS. The website doesn't show my Global Entry membership anywhere, so I can't even click on the renew button since it's nowhere to be found!
I think this is because my old CBP account (GOES?) was never linked to the new CBP account (TTP?).
What do I do?
If my Global Entry expires (it will this Sunday), I'll have to re-apply for Global Entry and it won't be considered a renewal at that point (if my understanding is correct). Luckily, I'll still have NEXUS, which should still entitle me to PreCheck and the use of Global Entry at U.S. ports of entry anyway. I've tried calling the help desk for CBP, but the line drops before the call actually transfers.
Best case scenario: I reapply for Global Entry, even if it is not considered a renewal, it is conditionally approved before this November, and I can interview for Global Entry and APEC at the same time.
Worst case scenario: I have to reapply for Global Entry and it does not get approved until after my APEC application expires, meaning I'll have to apply for APEC over again
1. Is it true that they cannot attach my APEC membership to my NEXUS membership?
2. Has anyone ever run into this problem where they have both valid NEXUS and Global Entry memberships, but only one is showing up on their account online? If yes, is there a way to resolve it? I've tried to search my inbox for my GOES account number, but nothing came up. The only thing in my current TTP account are materials related to NEXUS and APEC.
3. Has anyone able to get these trusted traveler membership renewal/sign-up issues resolved over the phone?
4. Was the CBP officer right? Is my APEC membership only valid for the duration of my Global Entry membership?

Since your question is more about APEC than Global Entry renewal, I moved it to the thread dealing with ABTC/APEC issues.
I'll just add that you cannot have active memberships in both Global Entry and NEXUS. As soon as your NEXUS membership was activated, you Global Entry membership was deactivated.
Please refer to the following thread: NEXUS Card Gets Deactivated upon Final Approval of Global Entry Application

Thank you, TWA884, for the point about Global Entry getting deactivated after NEXUS activation. I was unaware that was the case.
Also: CBP told me my Global Entry was still active until the end of this month!
Can someone tell me if it's possible to add APEC to my currently active NEXUS membership?

This just happened to me. I got my new passport today and went onto the TTS site. There was no option on reapplying for the APEC card since I was already approved and it hadn't expired yet. However, there was an option to replace my existing card. I went through the replacement card application and selected my new passport number from the list, paid a fee of only $25, and less then 30 minutes later I got a notification that I had been approved, my expiration date had been extended to cover the full 5 years (my original card only was valid for 2 years because my passport was going to expire in less then 5 years), and I would be receiving my new card in 3 weeks.

Thank you, TWA884, for the point about Global Entry getting deactivated after NEXUS activation. I was unaware that was the case.
Also: CBP told me my Global Entry was still active until the end of this month!
