Trying to think of points that could explain the quick turnaround compared to others posting...

I did not have TSAPre or other government/security affiliations.
I have recently (<30 days) flown through a few International Airports (NC and TX), but for domestic flights.
I did use a major bank debit card in my name.
I did have a Logon.gov account for a while.
I do hold a current firearm permit (VA) - Required a background check.
I have had previous medical and local/state government interactions in the past 2 decades (normal business).
My information and background were complete and should be easily verifiable (long term phone numbers, addresses, work history, matching credit history, tax info, etc).
Age is late 30s, US Citizen from birth.

Appointments for JFK are wide open, available every day. I'm currently in Brazil flying back via ATL to LGA on Thursday so rather than have to make a special trip to JFK I'll give the enrolment on arrival option a go.

Not sure for the reason behind the quick turnaround time, applied via website on my phone and used my Delta Amex platinum to pay the fee. Not enrolled in any other programs (aside from my license which is a real ID). I have traveled internationally pretty frequently since September of last year and constantly before Covid hit so that may have something to do with it.

What's the estimated waiting time for conditional approval, these days? How's the backlog?

they are saying the average is 6 months to a year. Some experience over a year so it’s hard to tell. Then some get conditional approval in only a few days.

I applied 3/2/21 so still waiting.

Update: approval 3/15/21. Yes, that's right. Same day as the interview -- about 4 hours after, or so.... I guess she's really considered low risk.

About 6 months if you are not CA'ed within a week.

So based on the last 3 dates you listed, it looks like the wait time is around five and half months.
