poisson,

It's been extensively discussed upthread. It started with the backlog caused by the government shutdown in December 2018 / January 2019 and later aggravated by diverting CBP resources to the southern border in June of 2019. With the recent slowdown of international travel due to the coronavirus pandemic, it would appear that the backlog has been substantially reduced. In the GE renewal thread, there are several recent reports of approvals being processed within a day or two and even in a few hours.

235 days till CA!
There are no appointments at all in Chicago. Is there a list of locations that accept "Walk-ins"?

Now closed until at least June 1 and you now have 485 days from application submission to completing enrollment.

https://www.cbp.gov/newsroom/nationa...ram-enrollment

U.S. Customs and Border Protection will extend the temporary closure of Trusted Traveler Program enrollment centers until at least June 1, 2020. CBP is taking this precautionary measure to minimize the exposure of CBP personnel and the public to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, CBP extended the period of time that Trusted Traveler Program applications remain active. All applicants now have 485 days from the date of their application to complete the enrollment process. In addition, CBP will extend for up to 18 months the Trusted Traveler Program benefits of members who apply for renewal before their current membership expires.

Will GE coverage be expanded if no interview appts available? Was conditionally approved in Jan but will likely be mid 2021 before my next international flight. There were zero locations within 500 miles of me offering appointments prior to Covid shutdown. Do I just lose 1.5 years of coverage?

As a new applicant, your GE expiration date will be on your birthdate that is greater than 5 years from your interview/full approval date. Example: If your interview is on the day after your birthday, then you will have nearly six years of GE. Your conditional approval date does not set your membership expiration date - expiration is set based on your full approval date, and full approval happens after your interview.

Still pending as of 05/03/2020 (243 days so far)

I called them last week and they said they do not escalate the case unless it has been at least 9 months from the application date.

Applied 9/26/19. Have asked by email twice how long is the process: first reply from CBP at 5 months said 6 months or longer, most recent reply at 7 months 5 days, said "it is taking 7 months or longer...." a real news flash. In the same message CBP stated that they have no means of expediting the process and the process is random, again another news flash. I applied expecting that this would take a month or two at the most, never in my wildest dreams would I have believed that it would have taken this long, or I would have saved my $100 and time and effort. And in case you are wondering, I have flown all over the planet for 25+ years, and been to 6 of the 7 continents, so its not like I haven't been through customs more than a few times.
