Just noticed the announcement below on the Trusted Traveler homepage. Unfortunately the Global Entry enrollment centers are closed until at least May 1 due to coronavirus. They have cancelled all appointments between now and April 30. You can schedule an appointment after May 1 if your appointment was cancelled.
“Effective March 19, 2020, out of an abundance of caution and in the interest of minimizing exposure and controlling the spread of the Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) Outbreak, all US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Trusted Traveler Program Enrollment Centers will suspend operations until at least May 1, 2020. This temporary closure includes all public access to Global Entry, NEXUS, SENTRI, and FAST enrollment locations. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience through this process.“

My daughters just got their passports in last week; 2 years old and newborn. With the GE enrollment centers closed, am I still able to apply online for GE to get in queue to get applications looked at after they reopen to get applications processed? I'm hoping since my daughters are very young that their applications will be processed quickly.

Conditional Approval
Does anyone know if they still processing for conditional approvals during the coronavirus shutdown?
I almost wonder if this would help with the backlog of applications waiting for conditional approval since this is something can be done remotely?

I sent one of those emails to CBP sites asking if the office was still working behind closed doors or even at home through a porthole.. Sadly received a standard response just saying that all the offices are closed till At least May 1st. I'd take that as a... No work is being done which means even my renewal from August 2019 is now on hold yet again.

I don't see why the age of the person applying for GE would have any bearing on the processing time.

My data point for my infant child, now a toddler:
Application date 8/17/19
Conditional approval 3/26/20
Interview scheduled for 10/2020.
That's 222 days.
Completely random for timing. I thought my infant would be quick too, as he does not have a criminal record I am aware of. No, standard 200+ days.

Is it random that I get CA either after 2 or 200+ days?
Yes it's totally uncontrollable and no it depends on your name and DOB. Only by getting background check instantly cleared can you get CA after 2 days. That means, at least, no other people have the same name and birthday as you do.
Are the pending applications being reviewed during the shutdown of enrollment centers?
Yes.

Do we know what's taking so long for Conditional Approval now? When I applied for Global Entry back in 2017, it only took a week or so and I was able to schedule my interview about 2 weeks later.
I'm guessing each application is looked over by a person and it's not entirely automated?
