For those interested, my full itinerary included Iguazu Falls, Mendoza, El Calafate, El Chalten, Ushuaia, and then a week in BA. A lot of travel on Aerolinas, most of it uneventful and about equal in my experience to US carriers. They only lost my bag once!

We just got back from Argentina and absolutely loved it -- we did an Iguazu, El Calafate, Buenos Aires itinerary (less extensive than your's). We flew Aerolineas throughout as well, and shockingly we never had our bags lost! (even got upgraded to Business on FTE-EZE).

Thanks for the trip report!

Congrats on the upgrade. Did you ask for it?

No, actually most of the planes we flew intra-Argentina did not even have a business class section, so I didn't really think anything of getting boarding passes for seats in Row 2. But when we boarded (737-500), we were in one of the two rows of "business" class (note Business class essentially means Coach with the middle seat blocked out, lots of booze, and decent food -- very Euro style business class.

But still, surprise upgrades are always the best! :)

Thanks for taking the time for the report. My husband and I are taking the AA 777 BOS-LHR in Sept. Booked with AA miles, first was not yet avail, but calling frequently to get in. I'm sure something will open for us. Got the FC on the way home LHR-DFW. It will certainly be interesting to see the serve we get.

Cool- have a great time- I hope you get the good IFE. One thing I forgot to mention earlier, when you're choosing your seat location, there is an annoying little quirk with the monitor. If you are sitting on the left side of either aisle, the monitor is on your left, an conveniently bends toward you, so that you can see it clearly while reclining in the chair. If you are on the right hand side, however, it bends AWAY from you, which is useless.

excellent reading

LAXGR

what a great TR - i so enjoyed reading it.

Great that you had a FA who was 'sweet' about showing you how to make the most out of your seat and all its doodads.

Even nicer that you post a pic of yourself enjoying the experience.

Thanks for the report!

My partner and I just used miles to book First BOS-MIA-EZE in October - so nice to have a preview with good pictures.

I'll also look up that miniseries.

Thanks, have a great time! The miniseries I mentioned in on netflix now. I haven't seen it anywhere else. Cecilia Roth kicks some major ... in it!

Oh - I booked us on the R side of the aircraft, just because 1A was reserved (pilot rest I think) and I tend to like 1st row. We're doing two window seats one behind the other. Sounds like I should switch us over to the L while I can?

(Also, you were more to the back, right?)

Thnx

- (btw, sounds like a great tip for Seatguru)

I was in 1J on the MIA-EZE and EZE-MIA flights, and I scored 1A on the return flight MIA-LAX. The front row is nice, but, honestly, there is so much space in First on the 777 that you really kind of feel like you're in your own little world regardless of which row you're in. The screen angle thing was pretty annoying, if I was booking the seats again I would make sure to be on the L side regardless of which row I had.
