using both Flickr and Google drive as host for picture give black X as picture--and they are visible to public--links work just fine...
Can anyone lend an idea on what is wrong?

Instead of testing, try to ask your questions about embedded photos in this thread over Travel Photography Forum: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/trave...phy-forum.html. You should be able to get more timely replies over there.
I have a hunch you may run into problem with hyperlinks in your posts due to FT's built-in spam trap against spammers and posters with low post count.
Well...that could shed some light on this...

Are there any batch upload sites that will also re-size to message board sized pictures? I like tinypic for the re-size option, but doing them 1 by 1 stinks for a long trip...
