AC 585 New York JFK - Calgary

It was an early morning flight to Calgary and I wasn't in a hurry to get to the airport. Check-in took place at a near-empty line around an hour before departure. Why arrive at the set time to be in line with everyone else?

We had to use the United check-in since Air Canada doesn't have any check-in desks at this terminal.

The windows were all fogged up when we boarded the aircraft.

Takeoff towards the east!

There was no airshow with a map and the location of the aircraft on this flight.

It was a 4 hour flight without any meals. I bought a sandwich at McDonald's at the airport and had that on the plane. Otherwise I would've had to pay 5 bucks for a microwave cashew chicken and rice when they sell it at the store for $3.50.

As you can see, I was fairly bored so I resorted to snapping pictures to pass my time.

It was a fairly full flight - 85% at least.

There are no personal televisions. Even the folks in Business Class had to watch these screens mounted on the ceilings.

The trees thin as we approach the Prairies.

continuing the aerial tour ...

Calgary is fairly close to the Rocky Mountains, so the sight of them indicates we should be descending soon.

The final descent ...

What a skyline shot!

Welcome to Calgary.

Like what I expected from North American airlines, there wasn't anything fancy, yet there wasn't anything bad either. The crew got their work done, gave us drinks, showed some TV shows and a movie, and the 4 hours went by. Calgary's airport is quite close to the city. The ride in took only about 20 minutes. The clear weather and the city view on landing really made the flight memorable.
